My sister has decided she can not get the time off from work to join us on our vacation. If we wanted to ask someone else to go would it be possible to change her name to someone elses or would I have to cancel hers take a credit and then book a new ticket at the current price.TIA

I talked to Southwest this morning and they say that the tickets are NON-transferable. So I think you may have to take a credit and then rebuy at current prices.

I did this in February. At the last minute, my husband could not go with us to Orlando. I wanted to bring my son's friend with us instead, so I canceled my husband's ticket and used the credit to purchase a new ticket for the friend. The friend's ticket was a little more than the original price and I just paid the difference.

It was painless.

Thank you for the answers. The ticket is about $50 more now then when I originally booked. So I might just save it for a future trip. How long are southwest credits good for?

One year from the date the ticket was originally purchased.

Travel has to be completed one year from the date of original purchase.
