Hopefully new to DVC. We are anxiously waiting on three contracts that are all at ROFR.
How easy is it to have scheduled a 11 month reservation at your home resort and then at seven months switch that reservation to a different resort? Can you do that on the website, or does that need to be done with member services? I'm hoping it is possible?

How possible it will be will depend on the time of year and where you want to switch to. But it's very easy to do via the member website, no need to call. You're better off NOT calling, actually.

It's very easy if there is availability at 7 months for your preferred option. It can be done online. You just choose the modify option.

I just did it this morning! You go to your DVC dashboard and click on your reservation where it says "modify" and go from there. I do a search prior to that step and see what is out there. Beware that inventory can change in a second so I tend to do this really early (like 4 am) in the morning when not many people are on the website. We have three memberships and multiple contracts so I have to be careful to put it under the correct contract LOL!

Went from a SSR Deluxe Studio to a AKV Jambo House 1 BR in a couple minutes! Good luck!

Are you able to access your 7 month window at 4 AM? Or is that just when you check for the latest inventory before the 7 month window opens at 8 EST? Thanks for the info!

You can see availability but you cannot book until 8 AM.

Thanks for all the answers and advice. I do plan to make a reservation at our home resort at 11 months so we have a solid reservation, then look for something different at seven months.

I'm a few days past 7 months so it didn't make a difference. I should have pointed that out, however I do always check out what is available before I modify to see what is out there. Sometimes I have to allocate points from one membership for part of the reservation and points from another contract for another part of the reservation. Good luck!

It is easy on the website but availabilty for studios at many locations would be very limited at 7 months. There is some seasonal factors as well, for example both Copper Creek and Boulder Ridge book up early in November and December. Some locations have few studios to begin with (I am looking at you Copper Creek). The rule of book home resort so at least you can plan your trip is a good one.

Then at 7 months you try, you waitlist, and you stalk the website. It can be helpful to grab part of your trip if it pops up, and then just try to waitlist/grab the rest (if you have extra points or are willing to risk having a split stay; we don't mind split stays).

I just booked (modified to from a studio at CC) 2 nights in a 1BR at BCV for my daughter 2 DAYS in advance, and 1 night in a 1BR BLT, also 2 days in advance. I just kept looking. Bonus: they upgraded the 1BR at BLT to a 2BR! So keep looking, availabilty changes constantly.
