Changes/Upgrades at DVC Properties

Moves, changes or upgrades with DVC are usually a result of Disney making a mistake with the original room. The room was assigned to someone else, there was a major issue with the room and it should have been blocked, they some how overbooked. We have also found that they will tell you a reason that most guests will understand and accept, not necessarily the real reason.

If the front desk modifies your reservation, your points may go into holding and they don't know or have the ability to use them for the new reservation that they created. They should but often don't take the time to contact MS for help. Keep an eye on your points.

We were upgraded this past weekend (10/6-10/10/17) at BWV. We had booked a boardwalk view studio at 11 mths. Arrived at the hotel at 8PM, checked in (never got a text), and discovered we had been upgraded to a 1 bedroom pool/garden. (I checked, no extra pts were taken!) Apparently there was some issue with our boardwalk room/none available...no idea exactly why we were upgraded. The desk clerk apologized that it wasn't boardwalk view, but going up to a 1 bedroom made us very happy. We got to our room, 5051, and discovered it was a dedicated 1 bedroom, Village Green view--at the Boardwalk end--so it actually was a side Boardwalk view, and the perfect spot to view Epcot fireworks from! We were celebrating our 24th anniversary, so it was great to get that upgrade! The desk clerk also pixie dusted us with a FP+ to Soarin' for that night after hearing we were heading to Epcot to use our Test Track FP+. It was a fantastic start to our vacation!

It would have been our 12th studio stay in 9 years--so it definitely doesn't happen often, but it can happen if there is an issue with the room. We felt very lucky to be upgraded this trip!
 
Two years ago we stayed at Paddocks at SSR. Room AC compressor was out. Notified staff in morning. Repairman came while we were at parks but did not notify desk that he had to order the part. After 5 hours in a very warm room(10 pm), they finally got in touch with the repairman and moved us to another identical room down the hall. Next time I will be more proactive and attach myself to a CM in the air-conditioned main house until it is resolved. Simple case of communication breakdown, but my kids and I were the ones who suffered.
