I was watching videos on Youtube and there were several that talked about the new songs due to a possible lawsuit over some of the words in some of regular old songs. This is the first time I have heard of this. This show is by far our favorite and has been for many years. Why would this be a issue so many years into this wonderful show?? Can anyone enlighten me on this???...smjj :confused3:confused3

Money!!
Heirs to the original copyright owner want to be paid each and every time the song is used. Disney lost the lawsuit

We went to the HDD last week. I was discouraged when I was reminded that the HDD song was not going to be sung, but in all honesty, I really didn't miss it. The show was fabulous as usual, and so very very similar to the old show. To me, it seemed that only the opening song and closing song was changed, and it fitted in quite well with the show. Yes, I like hearing the old song, but I believe in time I will be humming along to the new one as well.

1) Disney lobbied for copyright law extensions to protect its characters.
2) Now, they don't want to pay other people for copyrights.
3) They learned they can't have it both ways.
4) So, instead of paying, they changed the songs. *
5) What's good for the goose . . . . . . . .

* Same thing for Christmas songs in Country Bear Jamboree. This is
why they no longer have a seasonal edition of the show.

It is a shame as this is the one show we always go to when we visit and have for many years now. The songs and atmosphere were all stables we loved and learned to depend on because they were the same year after year when we first starting taking our small one and now bring our grandkids. However, I believe your comments about why Disney changed instead of paying are right on, unfortunately...smjj

Oh great!! Now I got the Hoop-Dee-Doo song stuck in my head. :headache:
I guess it's better than Small World. :rolleyes1

Yup - things aren't like they used to be...
