Changes to Gay Days Schedule

I've never been in June, but I had to pop in when I saw it was an almost all Texan thread!

Although I prefer to go to WDW when the weather's cooler, I wouldn't hesitate to visit during June or during Gay Days.

So, should we plan a Texas - Orlando road trip then? :cool1:

ROAD TRIP!!!! YA!!!!

As tragic (or ignorant) as this appears I had to ask my gay co-worker what this meant.
TRANSLATION- The fun party crowd! :cool1:

Thanks for the update! I was at MK last year during Gaydays and I have to say I loved it! Everyone seemed to be so happy and I loved seeing the really buff guys walking around in Mickey/Minnie wedding ears! Anyone know where they sell the Gaydays t-shirts? I'm going again the same time this year and would love one as a souviniere!

Hmmm...really buff guys that DH shouldn't be jealous of...sounds pretty darned good to me!

Hey I just had to add to the 3/4 Texas thread. We are going June 4-11th for our first time in the summer. I figure if I can stand a day at Astroworld in July w/ no fastpass etc I should be able to handle Disney in June. No problems with the Gaydays crowd, it would be like another weekend with my friends in Houston.

I was not trying to offend anyone, but this country is becoming so on edge of not allowing groups to do things for fear of being sued.

I know that places have like Boy Scouts days and such, but it just gets to me when the days anywhere are given because some group may sue.

Tissa, we are going the same times you are. Where are you staying? We fly out of DFW.
PM me...

Why does there have to be days for certain people? What about Red heads day, or children with braces get in free day?

You're welcome to start a day for redheads or children with braces. Anyone that wants to have a special day and publicize it can have one. It is not sponsored by Disney. It's not like Disney closes the gates that day to anyone who is heterosexual. Anyone can go.

Thats not what I thought. I know that they are open for everyone everyday. I just read one post that said that some groups think that not enough is done for them.

Really I was not trying to get anyone in a bind. That would go for any group that thinks they deserves more than someone else.

but June 2006! I am trying to convince dh that we'd be better off going this June, though, as we can rideshare with all the DIS Texans and save! Everybody sing: We'll have a great big convoy, riding through the night, we'll have a great big convoy, ain't that a beautiful sight.......Convoy! :rockband:

How Funny! I have that song on a cd in my car that my boys and I sing to when we take car trips :rockband:

I am using my June trip to the World for acclimation from the frozen north(it was -5 here in ME when I rode my bike to class this morning and my mom sent me an email entitled "heat wave" when it hit -5 about noon today in CNY) to get ready for 6 weeks in San Antonio. I'm dreading the heat being in TX from June 12-July 23 already. On the other hand, after checking out the eye candy at the World I will then get to check out all the nice Army boys. Unfortunately, I am sure that they WILL see me sweat even if the PT sessions are scheduled for zero dark thirty. LOL

I sure hope I can convince my family that it is OK to brave the FL heat in June. After all, how different can it be than here?

I think if we can handle this Dallas weather, we can tough out Florida.

This will be our fourth trip in early June and the heat is not so bad but you can feel a difference in the humidity. I sweated in places I didn't know could sweat :scared: but I'd much rather be perspiring at WDW than in Texas :cool1:

I heard that business. :) :)

Gay Days are not officially Disney events, but they do offer special perks, such as hotel discounts, to gay families and singles. It's obviously just a fun get together for a group of people who may or may not get to experience much contact with like minded people. I'm sure that groups like families of twins, and the like, have special days where they all get together to enjoy each others shared experience at Disney. My wife and I have been there during Gay Days and it really isn't a big deal. Heck we have gays days every day in New York...we call it Chelsea :D .

Well I'm gay - HAPPY that is. :earseek: Do I get a discount? :earboy2:

Hi there Houston, Texas. I will be there 6/2-6/9 - maybe I'll see ya around. I'll be the one with a beautiful child, husband, FIL and grumpy MIL. LOL :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well, DH has already said he wants no part of going to WDW in the summer, so I guess we will miss out on Gay Days! Which would have been a tremendous amount of fun! I have been involved with AIDS charities for the past 11 years and I now have a wonderful circle of friends (gay and straight) from my volunteer work. I think Gay Days would be a blast! I think any event (sanctioned or not) that celebrates diversity and equality is a blast! Have fun everybody!

Again ... Disney does not sponsor Gay Days -- they have not "given" certain days to anyone. An organization named Gay Days organizes the events at Disney and other local theme parks, as well as other events throughout the year.

If all the redheads got together and decided to do "Redhead Days" at Disney, they could do exactly what the Gay Days organization does and create their own day. Disney wouldn't sponsor theirs either, but they also wouldn't prohibit it from happening.
