We have a trip planned for 1/18 -28, 2002. I have active reservations for National EA and Avis Preferred. I was on the Avis website this morning checking rates. They have redesiged the site and it is more user friendly with better graphics. It now includes pictures of the cars with more relevant information similar to what some other sites have been doing for awhile.

The odd thing about Avis in the past was that to enter a coupon to a reservation, you had to first make a ressie and then later go back and add the coupon. It did not give you a new price showing the discount from the coupon either.

The new site has a place for the coupon number when you make the original reservation. The strange thing is that it doesn't indicate the amount of the discount or show what your new total with the coupon factored in now comes to. Why they would go to the trouble to add the feature but not really take advantage of the software to give you a new total similar to the excellent way that National breaks everything out is completely lost on me.

I have never had a problem with Avis or National so I will use whichever comes out the cheapest. But again the coupon procedure that Avis uses seems to be bit archaic.
