We had the plan in 06. I believe I just read that the regular plan no longer comes with an appetizer? Can you still use child credits for adult meals? My son was three and would share our lunches saving some CS credits for breakfast. Are the credits now separated on our receipts/accounts? Are there any other major changes that I should be aware of? Thanks!

The dining plan allows 1TS, 1CS, and 1 Snack credit per person per night. You can redeem them as you wish, such as using 3 TS credits one day, and 2 CS credits another day, etc.

Child credits MUST be used for kid meals where available. Almost every restaurant offers a kid menu with a few exceptions. You will be required to get a kids meal. Your Key to the World card will show how many adults and children are on your dining plan so you can't order more adult meals than the number of adults listed. So, if you have 2 adults and one child, it will say 2A/1C and you will only be allowed to redeem 2 adult meals and 1 kids meal at any restaurant (either counter service or table service). You can share meals at CS locations if you choose, but you are not supposed to redeem only adult meals. It is against Disney policy. If you want your child to be able to get adult meals, you can pay to upgrade him to an adult diner, in the case that he may eat a large quantity or will not be happy with the kids meal offerings. :) A lot of parents upgrade their younger kids.

Oh! Each person on the dining plan will also get their own refillable resort mug. You can fill your mug only at your resort during the length of your current stay. Eligible beverages are soda, water, coffee, tea, and hot cocoa at most resorts.

The big difference is that instead of one dining plan, there are now three. What you remember as the dining plan is now the regular or basic dining plan. Same as it used to be, one TS, one CS and one snack per person per night - except it no longer includes appetizers (for adults, kids get small 3 course kids meals) or tip and costs a good bit more. It also includes a refillable mug now.

Can you still use child credits for adult meals?

No.

PP are correct. When you get your receipt back at your TS locations you will see Adult and Child credits charged, and remaining, separated. At CS they will only be listed as credits remaining. Not separated out (subject to change of course)

Happy Dining!:goodvibes

Have deleted some posts discussing the use of children's credits for adult meals. Unless the restaurant has no children's menu, Disney has a clear written policy stating this is not allowed, so the DIS restaurant board policy is to not allow discussion of getting around the rule.

You are aware that tips are no longer included on the DDP TS meals now, right? So you have to figure those in your budget too (gee it was sure nice to have them included and not to worry about them back then, and then plus losing the appetizer :upsidedow

Good ol' DDP, we really had it made back in 2006 huh?
