I saw in my newsletter that they raised the ride height on Stitch's Great Escape. Not that it affects me, but I'm curious as to why?

Probably because too many little kids were getting scared by it. This is the second time they've done it.

lol really.. that's kinda funny...

That's the kind of thing that happens when you let accountants design theme park attractions.

I'm not sure what it is but my DS4 just rode it and he is 41 inches...

It's not like a kid is going to fly off or something. If it's because kids are getting scared, changing the height requirement is pointless, IMO. There are some 6 year olds who are bigger chickens than some 3 or 4 year olds. The only good explanation I can think of is that the shoulder harnesses only go down so far, and that to get the full "feel" of the attraction, one's shoulders must be able to touch the harness. My DS4 rode it and liked it .... my DS2 was 1 1/2 inches too short and was ticked off he couldn't go in. After we went on, and knowing him, he would've loved it - doesn't spook easy, though.

Raising the height restriction might be used as a sort of "shorthand" for a kid's age. By raising the height, they are roughly raising the age of the average rider. It's not a perfect system, but they can't exactly put an age requirement on it, or a courage requirement. I can't believe that they would have opened the attraction not knowing how tall you had to be to get the shoulder harness in the right position. That's the kind of thing accountants ARE good at.

I believe that the new height requirement is 40 inches. That's up from 38 inches..it started off at 36.

Yep, I'm with you there ... I just think the height requirement stinks for this attraction. My 2 yo was tall enough a few months back, but by the time we got there, they'd moved it to 38 inches and he came up short. Stitch is his favorite, and he has no problem with dark/noisy environments, so after checking it out myself, I would've felt fine taking him on the next time. My 4 yo is not as good with that stuff (spooked a bit in "Tough to be a bug"), but loved SGE. I wasn't aware of any height requirements at any of the "4D" movies (Bug, Shrunk the Audience, etc), so I just can't figure this one out. Just put one of those generic disclaimers outside -"may be too intense for younger viewers, blah, blah" - and let the parents judge. Again, no physical harm can come to the "riders".
