Changes in Canada's travel advisory for cruises?

I hear this is also really affecting bookings from Canada. I don’t know if it’s true but I heard that travel insurance won’t cover you then- and that’s why.

You are correct, almost all Canadian travel insurance companies will NOT cover any travel that has a cruise component to it as long as the level 4 "avoid all cruise travel" advisory is in effect. That includes emergency medical, cancellation, interruption, etc. And it includes any pre- or post- land travel as well - its the entire trip that has a cruise within it.

As mevelandry noted, they were only able to find one company that would cover a cruise.

Note that the insurance sold by the cruise companies themselves will work, but Canadians are generally advised to have CAD$5 to $10 million in emergency medical coverage for their travel insurance, and the cruise insurance (including DCL) usually is nowhere near that so would be considered very inadequate in the emergency medical coverage department.
