Hey folks. I first went to WDW in 1986 and then again in 1988.

I have recently found myself a little caught up in the "Disney After Dark" furor, but then reminisced a little about the times that captured my spirit and heart and made me a lifelong dis-fan. I think it's like life in the Western World these days: we seem to yearn for a time in the past, but it really wasn't as good as we thought it was.

I invite you to compare notes, ye olde timer Dis-fans.

There were no extra magic hours. If you wanted late nights then you had to be there at the highest peak times possible and so was everyone else.

There were only two parks. I was down there with my folks for 9 days and I went to Pirate's Cove mini golf twice, and then went to the Elvis Museum with my dad. It was great, but I would have much preferred a 3rd gate..... A fourth gate? Wow...

No water parks at all: had to go to Wet and Wild, which was a blast but is to TL and BB as Six Flags is to MK.

FAST PASSES: the biggest revolution possible..... NOPE. You showed up early or late if you wanted to get on quickly, the main portion of the day you sat in lines. I remember waiting for over an hour in the open sun waiting to get on 20,000 Leagues, and it blew. I also recall over an hour in an endless lineup for: Horizons, Space and the ridiculous skyway.

I am not a Disney apologist, but they have done a lot to make the guest experience vastly improved. The new changes may dim a few of the lights, but it's still astonishingly easier to do the parks now than it ever was..... and more fun..... BUUUUT I still fell in love with the place.

What am I missing here??
