We went to dinner on Dec 6. No more rocking chairs. Just two benches on the front side of the restaurant. A few picnic tables on the side.

Food was set up as mirror image instead of one long row of food. Less choices from last Dec. Desserts seemed to be better than I remember though.

It was set up the same way in September. It was still very good but I was disappointed in the fewer options.

Uh oh! What options were still available? We have an ADR for this location next week and I don't want our group to be disappointed.

It seems to me, last yr (Dec 2014) there was pulled pork, baked chicken and a baked potato bar. None of that this yr. Does the menu vary?

This yr there was fried chicken, beef brisket, ham, ribs, salmon and chilled shrimp. The veggies we had were mashed potatoes, cole slaw, green beans, corn, mac and cheese, and a tomato salad.

One side had cheese pizza. Perhaps 3 or 4 more veggie/salad items.

Chili and tomato soup. Both were good but not very hot (temperature wise) DH thought the chili had more of a kick last yr.

A new dessert to us was strawberry short cake. Others that I remember were pumpkin pie (cut into small squares), banana pudding, red velvet cake and cookies. By the ice cream area they had some apple something and I think some thing like bread pudding. They also had some whole apples, oranges and bananas.

We still walk away stuffed, but missed some of the other items from last time.

Service for us was lacking. My DH was drinking coffee and during the whole meal was never offered a refill. We sat with dirty dishes on the table. The server bought us our drinks, checked back in a few mins and we never saw her again at our table.

We were disappointed in our dinner at Trail's End in October. We had been there many times in the past and had always had a good meal. But this last time was a big disappointment. The place was very busy. It seemed like there were less choices of cold dishes, and they kept running out of food. At one point just about all the desserts were gone, although they got replenished about ten minutes later. And the wait staff seemed rushed and had too many tables to take care of.

I think people still think to go to the right for food ( I know we did at first) My DH went to get green beans and the bowl was empty, but on the left hand side it was completely full.

Getting soup, I got a little and it was good. Went back and the pot was almost empty and I think the heater shuts off at some point, because the soup barely had any warmth to it. I like soup hot, not room temperature.

I loved the baked potato bar. :( I would eat two of those potatoes plus dessert, and it was one of my favorite Disney meals. I can't justify the annoyance of getting there just for what's left.

Rocking chairs are out for refurbishment and are due back sometime in January.

Glad to hear that. It was sort of awful not to have anyplace to sit down. There were benches way across the way and I wasn't sure if the beeper would work that far.

We ate here this past week and it was great. No mirror image setting up of the items and everything seemed to be there including the potato bar.

We ate there tonight and there was no potato bar or green beans. The vegetable was corn and I can't eat corn so I was really disappointed that the green beans were gone. No pulled pork either….fried chicken or a beef carving roast of some sort. I was kind-of disappointed but my family did eat plenty so I guess not all was lost but it wasn't up to par in my opinion. I do agree that the desserts were better than in the past though.

1) They were removed and replaced with "tall" tables and stools for some time.
2) There were LOTS of complaints from campers who missed their rockers outside of Crockett's.
. . . and since this is a campground, WDW does not want to alienate their loyal camper following
. . . the rockers were put back.
3) However, they were again removed, but this time for rehab and repair.
4) They will be back, shortly.

I wonder are they doing a "special of the night" thing, like Cape May? Odd they would have the potato bar one night and not the other times.

But I agree with you, it wasn't as good, but for the cost and being at disney, not a bad deal.

I'm shocked that they actually listened to complaints. That seems very unusual for Disney (Cough...Poly lobby waterfall)

1) They did not listen to "complaints".
2) They listened to "ranks and ravings" from a lot of upset people.
3) Remember, The Fort is a campground, not a typical resort.
4) Campers are a loyal lot.
. . . word spreads like wildfire among campers
. . . if you lose them, it takes a while to come back.
. . . plus, they quickly withheld/restrained their spending at The Fort, including Crockett's Tavern
. . . WWD understands revenue and profit
.
NOTE: Other resorts cater to a different type of clientèle. If a few complain, the resort can take-it-in-stride, since only a few complain, and most will com back any how, or at least the complainers don't impact many other guests. In fact, when I have gotten complaints at the Concierge Desk and passed the along, some managers just roll their eyes, and we know the complaint doesn't go anywhere. The Fort is different..
