I thought I read somwhere too that if you have a child's ticket and they turn 10 before all the days are used that it will be upgraded to an adult ticket for free.

Now, if the OP doesn't have the tickets yet, that may be a different story.

Yes, but only if it's been used at least once before the child turned ten. I don't believe the OP's tickets have been used.

PolyPal, sounds like you had a really magical trip! Did you ever try to find out what was noted on your reservations?

Doesn't Disney already know how old the children are?? They have my childrens birthdays in their system. I would have thought when they changed the dates it would have come up at that point that her DD's 10th birthday would have past??

wouldn't they have made her an adult at that point?

Yes you can upgrade your dd's ticket, since she hasn't used it yet you will pay the difference between the 3-9 ticket and the 10+.

Since it seems like you are on a package I would keep things as they are for now. At check in get all your information and tickets without chaning anything. When you go to the first park stop at guest relations and pay the difference to upgrade your dd's ticket from a 3-9 to a 10+.

OTOH for those of you who have children who have already used days on the 3-9 ticket and they turn 10 before the ticket has been completetly used Disney will change it for them free of charge. The child must be present and the dates of prior use must make sense for them to waive the charge.

So in the OP's case if she want to get the proper ticket for her dd she would need to upgrade it and pay the price difference.

Take the ticket to guest relations and explain your situation. They may upgrade ticket to an adult one for free or you will pay the difference between the tickets.

my DD turned 3 last nov, we went in january. I had booked the trip in March of 05, when I booked the CM said, she is 2 when you booked it, she is considered Mickey's guest. I made a very clear point that she is 2 now, but will be 3yrs old 2 months before we go, the CM said it does not matter. it is based on her age at the time of booking. I actually called back several times before we left to ask that again, because I didn't want to show up and owe another 300 dollars and not be prepared for it, because when you book online it asks for age at time of travel. I guess we lucked out booking by phone. When I checked into the hotel the CM there said the same thing. I was very willing to pay whatever was necessary, but they insisted I did not have to. I would just call and check with them so you don't pay more than you have to, and you can have a completely clear conscience.

You were lucky and I am glad you didn't have any issues.

However the CM's were wrong in giving you this information. Disney waives admission for guests under 3 and requires guests over 3 to pay for admission. Its not up to the CM over the telephone or even at the resort to waive admission and IMHO its not fair to the CM's at the admission gate who's job it is to enforce the admssion policy.

Based on the above logic I could book a trip now while my dd is 9 for two years from now when she will be 11 and use a child ticket. Or my sil can book a trip for my 2yo neice in two years and have free admission. I don't think so, the price is based on the age of the child when the ticket is first used or the vacation starts not based on the date the trip is booked.

I have seen many a 2, 3 and 4yo asked their age, not the parent the kids. If I were the parent of a 3yo who was told by a resort CM I didn't need admssion only to have a gate CM tell me I did I would be upset. However, its pretty clear from all the information that Disney requires guests to pay admission based on their age.

If you are between the ages of 3-9 you pay the 3-9 price, if your 10 or over pay the 10+ price and if your under 3 your admitted free of charge.

Personally, if I know the rules and choose to break them, regardless of who said it was ok I wouldn't have a clear concience.
