Changed my reservation and lost BW view?

I just got a reservation confirmation email from DVC for our stay at BWV next week. I thought that was odd since I got my reservation confirmation 11 months ago when I made the reservation.

My original number reservation is for 5 nights in a one bedroom BW view for 155 points. The reservation they sent me today has a different reservation number but it is for the correct nights. BUT it says standard view instead of BW view, even though it still charges the points for BW view!

Why are they changing reservation numbers less than a week before my stay and why would the view be wrong, not even matched with the points I'm being charged? I will call MS tomorrow to figure this out but of course I didn't see the email until after they were closed for today.

I'm guessing it has something to do with splitting our reservation into two numbers because the original had a first night at BLT in addition to the 5 nights at BWV. I'm just hoping they really haven't screwed it up and lost my BW view.

This gets even odder.

I went to checkin online and the reservation there DOES say BW view. I'm going to take my original reservation hardcopy with me next week to make sure I have proof that I have a BW view reserved. Seems like changing my reservation numbers 4 or 5 days before our trip makes no sense at all.

Holy cow. I would be worried too. I just checked my reservations and all 4 are still correct but your post will have me checking several times again. Good luck. Hopefully the fact that online is still okay is a good sign.

You are stuck between the Disney software and the DVC software. As I have posted before, DVC uses the software that Disney uses for their cash Guests when ever they can to save money, even when it doesn't work well for DVC Members. That's why online check in lists odd room request choices.

The "standard" designation is typical for a cash confirmation. The pain is that now you need to waste you time calling MS to verify with MS.

Yes, DVC has learned that they can not go forward with many reservation numbers made using linked reservations and/or segmented reservations. They are constantly issuing new reservation numbers on these existing reservations but I am not aware of anyone arriving to a different room category.

It certainly has created anxioty among many of my guests who could no longer pull up their reservation.

The reservation on the DVC website still says BW view. The emailed new reservation number from yesterday says standard view.

I just called MS to double check and the CM says I have a BW view. He couldn't explain why the reservation emailed to me yesterday said standard view. That reservation is exactly the same as the ones I always get from DVC after making a reservation so I can't believe it is coming from a different system than DVC. But it makes no sense at all that the online version says BW view and the emailed version says standard view.

The CM said he would email me a new reservation copy with the correct BW view stated. We'll see if that happens or if I get another one that says standard view. In any case, I have my original reservation copy that clearly says BW view. Also, the points being used per all of the reservations are the number needed for BW view, not standard view.

I just got the "new" reservation that the CM sent. It STILL says standard view. I give up. I am taking my original reservation with me to the resort just in case they really do have us in a standard view by mistake.

Response to my email to DVC about the incorrect reservation that was emailed to me yesterday:

Thank you for contacting DISNEY VACATION CLUB®.

We appreciate your interest in a DISNEY VACATION CLUB Resort. I
apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate you bringing this to our
attention. Our records indicate that you are confirmed for a 1 Bedroom
Villa - Boardwalk View at Disney's Boardwalk Villas for October 20-25,
2011 and for a 1 Bedroom Villa - Standard View at Bay Lake Tower at
Disney's Contemporary Resort for October 19-20, 2011. We have contacted
our IT Department about this issue and asked them to correct this
immediately.

Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

I'm guessing the issue will be cleared up by the Disney IT department approximately the same time that Hell freezes over.

Its all because you have a split stay that was at one time, I am guessing, under one travel plan number. Those don't work with the resorts and they seem to have to change the numbers before sending them to them.

This happened to me in August. Just be sure you check your account. When they did this, they cancelled and rebooked things and because I had two contracts, they ended up leaving points in holding and taking my other bankable points. It was an easy fix but required a call and had I not been paying attention, I may have lost points.

Good luck!

Thanks for the hint. I hadn't considered that they might have actually canceled and rebooked the reservations. I checked my points and the remaining points are fine. This was an easy one, all points used out of my current BWV points. I can see where it could get confusing if I had used points from my other contracts.

Yes it was so much fun to look at the Disney website in my reservations section, days before our trip, to see that I had no reservations except for the two nights at Sports at the end...

Thankfully the DVC site showed me the truth.

I'm actually jealous that the OP got an email about it, frankly, I didn't get an email!

Aw man, if only I'd seen your post about it! I could have saved myself those breathless minutes while I figured it out in early sept. I didn't really panic, but I also couldn't really speak, which really worried my husband, lol.

I'm sure the view thing is just the boardwalk thing I've read so much about....

Really..what's up with the IT department? You would think that an organization the size of Disney would have their act together.

I called yesterday to add DDP to my reservation. Was on hold for the longest time while MS combined my 1-nite(added via waitlist) and 5 nite reservations into one.

I was actually hoping they wouldn't do that so that I could buy only 5 nites on DDP instead of 6. Oh well. Will just have to visit a signature restaurant and spend 2.
