Change to Disney booking question

We have 2 rooms at SSR booked direct with Disney, with free dining. Each room is a seperate booking. 2 people in a studio and 7 people in an 8 birth apartment. Now we might have a problem with 1 of the party not being able to make the trip. The question is, can we cancel the studio and move the remaining person to our room without losing free dining for the other 7? I have telephoned Disney today and they said I would only have to pay for dining plan for the one person added to our room booking, plus £50 for change to booking. Im ok with this, but am still a bit worried that they could still cancel the Free dining for all of us. Im just after a bit of reasurance. Thank you

I don't see it being a problem. I understand your concern as the one place where things could go wrong is when you fiddle with them, but you are not making any changes to the existing 8 person reservation that should affect the status of the package. Technically, you are cancelling one room package and adding another guest to the one you are going to keep. Although it is being treated as a simple amendment to your existing booking, because they are both (I presume) in your/the same name.

I don't see that it should be a problem. Just ask them to send out confirmation of the change in writing. If you spot any irregularities or red flags, you have time to have them address the issues now.

Thanks for the quick reply. Both bookings are in my name, but are separate reservations. I suppose I should add the extra person to my room booking first, then cancel the studio afterwards.

That would be my preferred approach, yes. :thumbsup2 TBH I doubt it will make a difference as the representative is going to do this for you and will be familiar with the procedure. Changes to reservations are commonplace, particularly with holidays like this where people tend to book so far out and unforeseen changes do occur.

But yes, in short, I would want to sort out the reservation I want correctly, and then cancel the other one.

As others have said, I can't see there being a problem with the changes you want to make. However, I am not sure of the dynamics of your party but you are aware that, in order to sleep the 8 people in a 2-bed villa (assuming that is what you're talking about) it means that people will have to share beds. If you have a dedicated 2-bed, you will have a king bed int he master bedroom, 2 doubles/queens in bedroom 2 and a double sleeper sofa in the lounge area. With a lock-off, you will have the same but with a queen and a sleeper sofa in bedroom 2. As long as all 8 will be comfortable sharing beds, it sounds as though you will be fine. It is a lot of people to have in a 2-bed villa though - I have done it with 7 and it can feel crowded!

Thank you. I thought it would be ok. It was just that I remember people on here in the past, having problems with losing free dining. But if I remember correctly, it was people who had changed resorts or dates and had a new booking ref no. I feel much better know:)

That's exactly where it is and most of the abovce are covered in the T&Cs. As a force of habit, I do always ask the person on the phone to confirm xyz before proceeding anyway.

Let us know how you get on. :goodvibes

Yes we understand the lay-out with the sofa beds etc. We once stayed at POR with 5 people in 1 room, so it will still seem spacious to us. Only sqeeze will be the mirrors and hair straightners in the mornings with 4 teenage girls. We did try and get a Grand villa, but they had all gone.

Great news, its all been sorted after a couple of days of phone calls and e-mails. All 7 free dining plan bookings are still free to our relief, plus extra person added to booking no problem. Thanks for the help.

So glad you got it sorted. I take it the other person is definitely not coming then. At least you will all be together too, which is a whole lot easier when trying to go somewhere than meeting people when you want to get out to a park/meal.
