Yes, this is standardized testing. The whole state of Michigan takes it, all at the same time with many regulations. I help coordinate our 600 MS students thru 3 weeks of it.

MI does that early in the school year; VA doesn't have them until May. It gives the teachers ample time to "cover" the content.

Our state used to do it in April; not sure why they switched it to October?? Yes, Day Two and we had a lot of squirmers, especially our little 4th graders. I try to make it as "painless" as possible for those little guys.
