DH and I are thinking of changing our plans for our next trip - thinking of adding a wee Disney Cruise to the itinerary!!! If we decied to do that we'd put our trip back to March 2007 for extra time to save and I see from the DCL website that the prices are out for this time period.

I'm really keen for it but I just need some reasssurance that there will be loads of stuff for DS's to do - they'll be 7 and 8 by then. Do the kids clubs last all day - or is in sessions with breaks for lunch?
DH is worrying about what he'd need to wear - as suits are not his thing at all. :)

Cath, seems cruises have captured a fews imagination ;)
Giving this serious thought for October 2007, although have to wait a bit for prices to be out :Pinkbounc

Cath - as you know my two girls are similar ages to your boys :)

I have done lots of research into what they are liekly to be able to do as part of the clubs - and to be honest, I think the problem we are going to have is getting them to leave the clubs!! ;)

There is almost an entire deck of the DCL ships dedicated to the kids clubs which run all day. You get a pager etc in case of any problems, and you can choose to get the kids out of the clubs for tea etc or I think they will feed them if they are in the club at tea time.

To be perfectly honest, this is one of the main selling points for us for the Disney Cruises. If the girls are happy - I'm happy :)

Cath...very exciting :) I was going to say Karen would be the one to answer this for you ;)

My kids didnt enjoy the kids clubs, now I dont want to put you off but I really thought they would love it and they found it too structured - like school, they couldnt just go into the kids club and chill - there was always a timetable.
There is a lot for them to do but just be aware that not all kids enjoy the clubs.
We had cruised Princess and P&O before and they had enjoyed those clubs. I felt that we would have been as well on another Princess cruise!

The Ship is fantastic and DH and I thoroughly enjoyed it once we realised that the boys just wanted to be with us the whole time.

I would think there would be plenty for them to do and the clubs are open practically all the time. Mum and I are booked on our 6th DCL cruise - two adults who just love the spoiling we get onboard!

this is in regards to wearing suits - are you thinking of the 3 or 4 day cruise? or the 7 day cruise?
If you're considering the 3 or 4 day cruise, you can put your husband's mind at ease - no suits necessary...
while it's true that some men do wear suits for dinner, it's not necessary unless you're planning a dinner a palo's, where a jacket and tie are indeed required...in case you're not familiar with palo's, it's a restaurant that isn't part of the regular rotation, you have to make reservations to eat there, you pay something like $10/ person or maybe a bit more, and children aren't permitted.......

but if you're willing to forego palo's then he'll be fine without a suit...
we didn't go to palo's for dinner.....we went for brunch, when a jacket isn't required there...
as for the regular restaurants, my husband (and 17 year old son at the time) wore resort casual -- a polo shirt and khaki pants....and he looked fine....
there are 3 restaurants that you eat in (a different one each night)....one of them is a bit fancier than the other two and some men wear jackets there...but i'd say that on both of our cruises, about 2/3 of the men wore resort casual and the other 1/3 suits or jackets...
so really, whatever makes him comfortable is what he should do...

 Hi Cath, We did the Disney cruise last year and our Dd loved every minute of it! I was worried before we went because dd wasn't very good at mixing with new people but we hardly ever saw her the whole cruise! :) I really think the clubs brought her out of herself and the only time she came with us was for brekkie and our evening meal, most nights we were tucked up in bed before she arrived back to our cabin (sometimes not till 1am) She was 12 at the time though and a bit older that your boys. Good luck and i'm sure you'll have a ball :goodvibes
