I was originally going to take me and my 8 year old daughter to Disney World for Thanksgiving but now I am thinking about surprising her and taking her for her birthday. We would go from October 25 through the 29th. Does Disney do anything special for birthdays? How are the crowds? Is it warm enough to swim at the resort pools?

thanks

Ok, coming from someone in NJ...we find it is still plenty warm enough to swim. You can stop at guest relations at any park and ask for a birthday button/pin for your dd. Sometimes CM's in the park take note of the pin and you'll have some special moments because of that. You'll also be there to do Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party that takes place at MK on selected nights. It requires separate admission fee from your regular park ticket, but it is a blast to attend.

Those are great dates to go! I will be there from the 23rd through the 29th!!! :cool1:

It is really going to depend...

The past two "Birthday's" we celebrated... while we were out at the parks our "Birthday" kid received a Birthday card with an autograph... (Once it was "Snow White" and all the Dwarfs... The other it was Buz Lightyear) along with balloons. They were waiting for us in the room.
Make sure they know at check in that you have a Birthday celebration.
You can probably expect a "Birthday" phonecall( pre-recorded) from someone.

My DD was celebrating turning 9 last year and she of course got Happy Birthday greetings from the Cast Members. "Characters" seemed to make a bigger fuss over her. Got a "cupcake" with a candle from Donald Duck at Chef Mickey's( You can always order cakes... but with the regular deserts who really needs them.
She also got to go to the front of the line for one ride. And if she has a makeover at the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique on her special day.. she will get a "Special" "Birthday Princess Sash" ,so that's different too.

Cannot say what "Magic" you will come away with... but celebrating your birthday in Disney World... is one you never forget. Speaking from experience.:thumbsup2

I have gone to Disney in Dec. and it was warm enough to swim in the pool. I have also heard that the best times to go are Oct.-Dec. The first year my family went, Goofy called me to sing Happy Birthday!:tinker:

October is a great time to go still warm , smaller crowds and do NOT miss MNSSHP-- worth the extra fee.....
