We were originally going to drive from Columbus, OH to WDW straight through leaving at night and arriving around noon. We have now decided to leave the day before and drive through the day. My question is should we drive straight through and stay near Disney arriving 9-11pm or should we stop a few hours outside of orlando and finish a few hours in the morning? If we chose the later where should we stop?

TIA

We drove form Hilliard to WDW.....left around 6 or 7 pm and drove straight thru to Daytona, 14 hours and stayed at the Sands for 2 days before driving on to WDW.....we used to do this all the time back in the late 70's and 80's from Youngstown, Ohio......19 hours, drive straight thru and unwind one night on the ocean so the children and see what the ocean is...past trip the stop at the ocean was for the granddaughter first ocean experience and also to unwind from the drive.....from Daytona, short 1+hour drive to WDW.......

We've just about gotten our fill of the ocean over the years and if driving again, would stop a little better than half way down for the night and proceed on early the next morning.....me and the wife tried a driving trip a few years ago (we're Amtrak people anymore) and we decided to drive straight thru from Youngstown to Cinn and take RTE 75 down.....we got tired late the forst night and found a room for the night and proceeded on the next day early.....we found driving too stressful, boring and tiring on the both of us and vowed to return to the train trips....good luck!

we did this our last trip, but from IL. drove straight thru and got a room at the fairfild inn, just outside of downtown Disney. This way we were fresh to hit the parks the next day, and the room was relatively cheap, and the last thing we wanted to do after driving all day was wake up and drive more, I rather would tough out the extra hour or two and get there.

Thanks for the advice! i'm a morning person so we may leave at 4 or 5 am and just drive straight thru
