Change in SWA policy for checking carseats, strollers, etc.?

I read on another list that Southwest now counts carseats, strollers, etc. as part of the passenger's luggage allotment. (In the past, families could check one piece of luggage each, along with a carseat and a stroller.) Apparently they're doing this to cut down on weight in the baggage compartment. Has anyone heard this directly?

Baggage Allowance: For each ticketed Customer, Southwest allows three (3) checked pieces with size limitations for each individual piece.

Not sure where you ever got the idea that each person could only have one bag!

I just checked the SW website (Travel Center) and it doesn't say anything about a change. EACH ticketed passenger is allowed three checked pieces of baggage in addition to one carryon and one personal item. There is also mention made of gate checking a stroller and specifically states a carseat which is approved for use on planes is not considered either a carryon or checked baggage. However, I would imagine if you weren't using the carseat on the plane and just taking it for use in a rental car it would count as checked baggage.
