We have reservations at Ohana for 3 adults and 2 children. One of the adults and one child may not be able to make it but we will only know a few days before. Should i let disney know once we know for sure or can we just wait until we get to the restaurant to let them know. Will this change cause us to lose our reservation?

Decreasing your party size shouldn't be a problem. It would be courteous to let Disney know when you know for sure, as this may free up some space for other guests, but it's not necessary. It shouldn't be any reason for you to lose your reservation.

You very well could loose your ressie. They can not decrease the number in the party. What they do is cancel your existing ressie and rebook you. Which if there is a table available is no problem but if they don't have anything available for the number in your party you will be out of luck.

There is never a problem with showing up at the restaruant with fewer people than booked. Remember that there are always people that just show up hoping for a table. So they will put you at a smaller table and then release the extra space to someone. Also, it is a common practise to over book and this is done with the expectation of no shows and smaller than planned groups arriving.
