Change in Illuminations

We were at EPCOT Wed night for the show and usually towards the end flames shoot out of the top of the globe when it opens up. It didn't this time and I was just wondering is this a change to the show or was it a possible mechanical error? It would be a shame if it was done on purpose!

I've seen this happen before. It is likely just a malfunction or something they are working on. There are no actual changes to the show as far as I know.

Is Illuminations scheduled to run as usual through the summer? Asking because we are going mid August and checking for the Dessert Party it is only scheduled through mid July. Just wondering if I have missed some announcements. Thanks!

About a week and a half ago I didn't stay for Illuminations but the earth globe was in the middle of the lake during the day instead of next to the America Gardens theater with the fire barge missing.

You haven't missed any announcements regarding the dessert party, however, keep checking because an announcement is expected about some significant changes to the current party.

There also have been nights when the globe hasn't lit up at all. And has anyone noticed that when the globe does open, there aren't any fireworks launched from the center? The globe opening with fireworks being shot from the center in rapid secession is what, IMO, makes the finale special. Do you get the feeling I've seen it a lot?

We were there on June 1st for the DIS 20 party. Saw the normal 9 p.m. show and the special showing for the DIS 20. The globe didn't open for both shows which is sad since it is like my favorite part of the whole show.

And the word is out. It's not official but it's a reliable report. There's also a nice element that has been added that the report doesn't mention but the official announcement will.
