I want to add a day to my next trip (Sept) and Air Tran wants 60 dollars per ticket (4x = 240).
Any suggestions?
:confused3

Most airlines charge a change fee. It's just a fact of air travel. Southwest is the only one I know of that does not charge this fee. Always read the airlines policies on changing/canceling ticket. :rolleyes1

If you need to change the day, you'll just have to eat the extra cost. :scared:

You could call them they may wave the fee for you. It never hurts to ask.
Bring up your a SW flier but ahve become unhappy with them so you are now booking Airtran. Then state it was never a problem with SW to make small changes.

That's a normal fee. My dh has had to pay it and he's a very frequent flyer with Airtran. If you've booked way in advance, you can hope they change the time of your flight. When they do you might be able to sweet talk them into letting you leave the next day instead. Good luck!

We booked w/AirTran in April for our Sept. flight. They have changed our flight times a half dozen times, by 2 minutes or so each time. After the last time I called and asked to change flights b/c I didn't like the new time. Not only did they let me change with no fee, because the changes were their fault, they let me change to a direct flight rather than a layover! :cool1:
The helpful operator told me they would find me another flight the day of, before, or after. So yes, I would hope they change your flight time then you can change flights with no fee.

Wait for airtran to change your flight time. They have a nasty habit of doing that.I know that Delta has a policy that your flight has to be changed by 90 minutes in order not to have to pay the change fee.
How important is the extra day? Is it worth the extra 240$

Called Air Tran and they would wave the fee!:cool1: but........

Their hand were tied because I booked the whole pkg through WDW.

Called WDW back and was told they were contractually obligated to charge the fee.

Guess the trip will stay the same.

Thanks for all the advice! :thumbsup2

Just curious....What did you say to have them agree to wave the fee? I have called with no luck...Suggestions? BTW, my flight has changed by 30 mins....

When I called Air Tran up, I was very polite, but not sickly polite. I used the customer service reps. name when ever I was talking with him.

Asked if it was possible if Air would be willing to wave the change fee on my tickets?

The gentlemen right away said said that it was policy to charge the fee; I told him I was aware that it was a policy but I knew it wouldn't hurt to ask. He then said he would ask someone who had the authority to make that decision.

They came back said they could do it, took my flight info and then things went downhill. So to speak.

Does the flight have to be the same price as the one originally booked? I booked a $49 fare, and would love to change it to a day earlier or earlier in the day I've already booked. They've changed our flight time by 3 minutes - so, technically, they've changed my flight. LOL

I don't think the flight does have to be the same price. I didn't specifically ask, but I'm sure the flight I switched to cost more than my original flight. In any case, the CS person didn't say anything about an additional cost, just asked me which flight I wanted to change to.

thanks so much! I think I might try to make the flight change, and see what happens. Worst case scenario, they say no and I'm stuck on my original flight. not a big deal at all :)

OK. THAT was the easiest flight change I've ever made. Sweet woman from Savannah, GA took care of eveything. yay!!! :)

So far, AirTran has been very accomodating for us. We fly with them on Saturday, so we'll see how it all goes. They even assigned us good seats for DH's broken foot when I called and asked. :) The rep even said she hoped he felt better!
