We currently have 10 nights booked in early oct at ssr. Blt is the dream so I've been checking twice daily. Today I can see that days 4, 5, 6 and 8 of our trip are open. What are the chances that 2 more days will open and we can split stay? Is blt just a dream?

if you want it, I'd book the days that are open now and wait list the others. The fewer the days on the waitlist, the more likely you'll get it. It will be hard.

Good luck!pixiedust:

Since it's within 7 month window, everyone is hunting for onsite resorts. If I were you, I would grab available dates, and waitlist the rest.

Relatively new twist in October bookings...Midwest fall breaks. Many schools in Indiana now have 2 week fall breaks in early/mid October. Airlines have figured it out and now double their fares during that time. I can already see those two weeks being in higher demand. SSR treehouses were booked for a few nights just before the 7 month window. We moved our dates back two weeks and saved $600 in airfare.

thanks so much for the replies everyone! I took the advice and snagged the four days, now just crossing fingers for some pixie dust :wizard:
This will be our first split stay. Would you recommend linking the reservations or keeping them as two separate? what would be easier?

I would keep an eye on the online system. For your waitlist to fill, all the nights have to open at once. I was able to pull together 5 nights at BWV in November by snagging nights as they came up. I originally had 5 nights on waitlist, booked in early September. Nights 3, 4 & 5 came open online, I booked it and changed the waitlist to nights 1 & 2. Night 2 came open online, I booked it and changed the waitlist to just night 1. Night 1 came through the waitlist at about day 28 and member services cancelled the other 2 reservations I had and made one 5 night reservation. I had an AP rate room as a backup. That was $284 per night with tax vs the 15 points with DVC. I was so glad it came through!

You sure that's a Midwest thing and not just an Indiana thing? Illinois does not do those and I'm not familiar with WI, MN, or OH doing it either.

I'm a teacher in Ohio and we don't have any break between Labor Day and Election Day (teacher in-service). My college daughter has a fall break but it's just a 4 day weekend.

Good luck! You can not link reservations at 2 different resorts, just seperate reservations at the same resort in order to not have to change rooms. I love split stays. It gives you 2 mini vacations. I just returned from a split between BWV and VWL 2 completely different resorts! Changing is so easy.Dropped our bags at Bell services and requested resort transfer and went about our day. Arrived at new resort in afternoon, checked in and picked up our bags!

We live in Northern Indiana, and we do not have extended fall breaks. Our kids get off a Thursday and Friday for fall break. I know some schools have started year round schooling, allowing for longer fall breaks, but as far as I know, no schools in northern Indiana have.
