Chances of getting accomodations in less than a month?

Ok, so here's the deal - I am joining DVC THIS WEEK!!! woo hoo! Already spoke with my guide, just need to make down payment and fill out paperwork, etc. My friends and I had been planning to visit one of our other friends who happens to be a CM in Disney this spring (long before I decided to join). Although we can stay with my friend down there, we would love to stay on-site. What do you think my chances are of getting a studio for April 24-27??? I would love to stay at BCV, but I know I cannot be picky here. Do you think that this will all come together or is this a longshot??? We're just trying to finalize details for the short trip. Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

you might be able to get OKW - but I don't know that is Easter week so it would be Premier season point wise. this is a very busy week at WDW,

It's worth a try. I called on February 25 to make reservations for March 7-9 and I was able to get a studio at VWL. It was the only studio available anywhere for that time period. I took it and was thrilled with it.

April is spring break time though, so you never know. good luck!

I absolutely love these boards - and I'm wondering where I would be without them! That is so sweet of you to check for me. I'll send you an email over tomorrow. I did realize it was Easter week - in fact I tried to get my friends to go in May - but we have so many schedule conflicts with work, personal commitments, etc. that we really had no other choice. I was there for easter a few years ago, and although it was mobbed, we still managed to have an AWESOME time. I guess we'll be doing a lot of fast pass!!!

generally as soon as DVC gets your down payment - you can make reservations - ask your guide to be sure. he can also get you a reservations - so if I get told "no way - DVC is all full" just ask him - since this will be your first week - the guides can pull strings.

Spiceycat is absolutely right. You can make reservations as soon as they have your downpayment and are input into their system (you should already have a member number if you received your welcome kit). If you didn't use Magical Beginnings, your points for the year should be available, otherwise you can borrow against next years points now (and you don't need your guide to assist you, MS can do it now--a recent change in their policies).

And if you don't get what you want, keep checking. Today I managed to get a 3BR Grand Villa @ OKW for 3/30-4/2. Very last minute, but it was available. Not sure how difficult they are to get compared to studios, but hopefully you'll be able to find something.

You can make ressies as soon as your deposit is processed. Ask your guide while you're on the phone giving the deposit information. The guides have been known to work wonders with first ressies. We were able to have our first ressies made for 6 weeks in advance, all made by our guide!!! I didn't know if there was availablility or not, but we got the room we wanted. Just a note, since you probably wouldn't have closed by your check-in date, you will be asked to sign a sheet at check-in stating if your closing doesn't happen you'll be responsible for the room at a certain cash rate.

Actually, a couple of years ago, DH and I did a last minute thing in early June and got a studio at OKW booked 3 weeks before our arrival date.

Talked to my friends today and we have decided to go the first weekend in May instead (May 1-4). I'm siked because it is less points (MUCH LESS) and I hopefully will be able to get a BCV studio those days. I'm stressing right now though because my guide is on vacation at HH and I can't check availability!!!!

I just called MS, for the weekend of May 1- May 4 BCV doesn't have availabilty for the night of the 1st and the same for BWV. There is VERY limited availability at VWL for that weekend and OKW is available. You might have some luck waitlisting for the night of May1st, but at this late date probably not going to come through. This is all for studios by the way.

Try calling MS directly. They can look up your contract by social security #.

I can't call member services yet because I'm still waiting for my guide to take my down payment. He went on vacation to HH this week and left a message on my phone last night. I will have it made by saturday definitly (that was when he was originally going to call me back). I did leave a message regarding staying at BCV the first weekend of May - I know that guides can sometimes make magical things happen with availability - I'm hoping this is one of those cases. This wait is KILLING me!!!!!! My friends are so excited about BCV...I so want to stay there!!!!!

You don't have to wait for your guide...just call DVC and tell them you want to close on the deal and your guide is on vacation. Someone else will take care of you! Usually the guide has someone back them up! They don't want to lose your business.

When I was first buying, my guide ended up getting a promotion to Manager, so he didn't call me back! I was dying, I wanted to join and I wasn't getting a return call....so I called DVC Directly and told them that my guide had not called me back and I was ready to buy, and they hooked me up with someone else.

I,DW and DS decided to make a quick 3 night stay at BCV's in early Dec. On 4 days notice I got a 1 bedroom. BCV's is our home resort and this was our 1st trip home, we were over joyed to get BCV's. We figured we would have to settle for 1 of the other resorts, which was ok. All you can do is call and try...good luck.

Talked with my guide last night and this morning - made my down payment - haven't signed the dotted line yet, but that'll be coming. He called member services for me this morning and found out that BCV is available for May 2/3, but not the first So, we are spending the first in a studio at OKW and then moving to BCV for the 2/3 in a studio. I am on a wait list at BCV for a studio for the first night - I hope it comes through!!!!!!! Either way, I'm going to Disney World!!!! Yay!!! By the way, has anybody ever been on a waitlist - have you gotten what you wanted??? Just trying to figure out my chances....
