Chances of getting 7DMT 30 days out?

So, I'm wondering... if many are making FP+ reservations for the mine train 60 days out, are people having luck at 30 days out? I'm not sure how fast the FP+ are running out.

Also... anyone having luck getting same day from 7dmt or any of the tier one rides at this time of summer? We have reservations on site but we may have to change our dates due to school asking me (as of yesterday :sad2:) to attend a workshop that is right in the middle of my Disney trip. I'm the chair of the department to which the workshop pertains but no way am I changing my dates if I'm going to be left with the crumbs. They can't make me go last minute but I do feel some pressure.

Thanks!

I got a 7DMT FP+ about two weeks out, and used it this past week. I am a solo traveler, so that might have helped.

I just tried for tomorrow (6/16), it is soldout. I tried next Sundays (6/22 & 6/29), it is soldout. The following Sunday (7/6) is available for late day. 30 days - 7/15 is open all day.

Are they holding back any "on-the-day" FP+ availability for guests who haven't/can't make advanced reservations? Basically for anyone who is not technically savvy enough to work out how to pre-configure MDE, attach their tickets, and then wade though the multi-screen booking pages (people like my mum, for example).

Although I've got park entrance media arranged for our two-week stay at POR in August, the ticket types are not attachable to MDE, so we'll have to rely on using "on the day" FP+ choices for everything (Mine Train, Soarin', Toy Story Mania, etc).

I was able to get it 30 days out. Not a lot of options, but not complaining :)
Good luck!

I got it a week out but it was a very late time with the park open until midnight. I ended up not being able to use it.

What do you mean "not attachable to MDE"? As far as I know, all types of entrance media are "attachable". Or is it maybe passes from CMs?

I was there this week and did pre-reserve my FP+, but only about two weeks out (when I received my ticket number). I got 7DMT, but A&E was not available (no surprise!). Everything else you mention was available.

As far as "day of", as an experiment, I tried to reschedule attractions once in the park, to see what was available. For all of the headliners, it always said, "No times available today".

I know it isn't what you wanted to hear, and you might have better luck depending on when you plan to visit. Is there any way you can get the ticket numbers and set everything up for you and your mum?

I am guessing they mean cast tickets or comp tickets.

Someone posted an e-mail response from WDW from about a month ago saying that they are not holding fastpasses back for day of.

Nope, I've checked and it's not possible (not as yet anyway).

My mum is not going with us on this trip, I was really asking the question on behalf of everyone who for whatever reason is not able to prebook. I would count anyone who is not particularly computer-literate, anyone who does not own a computer or a smartphone, people who book a package via a travel agent and do not know about the FP+ system at all, etc. I would guess this combined group probably encompasses about 30% of park guests at any given time, possibly more, and these people will now have no option but to stand in the significantly longer standby lines that FP+ has created.

Most fastpasses are available day of. When I was playing around with it earlier, Soarin and Test Track were both available for today.

Travel agents can book FP+ for you, I have a friend who does it.

A lot of people with the old fastpass system didn't know how it worked, they thought it was on site exclusive or you had to pay for it.

How does FP + cause longer standby lines? Has this been proven?
Given the same number of people and same number of attractions (for arguments sake) how can it be that lines are longer? You would think FP+ would lead to more efficiency and average wait times should decrease.
As a data analyst by profession I would love to get my hands on real FP+ data.

The longer lines that people are talking about are primarily the standby lines for those rides that did NOT have FP under the old systems. Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and It's a Small World come to mind. As continuous-flow rides, they rarely had long lines even on crowded days. However, now that the flow is "disrupted" by giving FP+ holders priority, the standby lines for those attractions are now routinely 45 minutes to an hour, or even more some days.

How does FP + cause longer standby lines?
More people are using FP+ than used FP, but the park's total capacity has remained relatively constant.

Was at MK on 6/13 and had an ETWB around 6:30 pm. When we got over there the standby line was only 15 min so when I went to change we got a SDMT for 9:55-10:55 pm. I was shocked when it showed up so don't give up trying

I got one 4 days before we were going to MK, so yes it is possible. What I did was whenever I was on the computer I kept the window open for the MK fastpasses and just kept clicking it every now and then. One finally popped up :thumbsup2

I booked my FPs exactly 30 days out for the week of July 4th (AP holder). I was able to get 7DMT for both our MK days, but ended up giving up one. There were many times available for our party of 3. I thought about moving our other one up, time-wise, but they were all gone as of Friday, so about 3 weeks in advance. I would make your selections first thing in the morning when your dates open up.

I booked our trip on Mother's Day weekend for the first week in June. I was able to get two sets of two FP+ for 7DMT.

Good luck and pixie dust!

I've waited 45+ for HM and potc many times in the last 40 years or so. It would be fascinating to see hard evidence of significantly longer wait times. I understand the standby line moving more slowly since FP was added, but there's no reason why average wait time (including FP) should be higher. X number of people are riding every hour. X shouldn't be lower with FP +. If average wait times are up for Hm and potc they must be lower somewhere else. More people must be riding HM and pirates which means they aren't doing something else. Do we know if this is actually the case?

I can see an issue with FP+ being utilized more than FP. The new users gain the benefit of shorter waits but old users find themselves running up against a more limited supply of FPs than they were used to in the past. They don't have the same advantages they once had on less savvy park goers. Still the benefits should average out.

I just wanted to say "Thanks!" for the responses. They have been helpful. I hope to hold on to my current dates but at least if I have to change a bit I can probably still get FP+ for the 7DMT. There are four of us, BTW. I would get on right at 30 days.

:goodvibes
