Chances for getting 2BDRM at 7 month window for OKW?

We have finally closed on our DVC purchase! Yeah! We got 150 points at VWL. We want to plan a trip for next January but I'm not sure how to do what I want. Ultimately we want to be at OKW in a 2 bedroom for a week (bringing Mother along with us) that's 218 points. We have 75 points from 2000 left (MB) and then we will get 150 this Sept. A 2 bedroom at VWL is 270 for the week but I won't have that many points. Without borrowing from 2002 do I make a reservation for a one bedroom at VWL taking advantage of the booking window or do I wait for the 7 month mark and make the reservation at OKW. I want to go in the middle of January but I am somewhat flexible on dates. I am hoping someone know what to do.

I think your safe making your ressies for OKW at the 7 month window, especially since you want to go in January.

Since you are flexible on the dates I would wait until the 7 month window and make ressies at OKW. If you make them at VWL first MS will have to borrow points from 2002. Once they are borrowed you can not put them back into the 2002 use year. So you would have extra points that would have to be used in 2001. Of course you could borrow the points and make ressies at VWL and then when you change the reservation you could then use your 2000 and the 2002 borrowed points first. Then what is remaining from 2001 you could bank to 2002. But then you are forced to use those banked points in 2002. I think that I would just wait. I bet that you will not have any problems getting ressies at OKW for January. It is a big resort.

Thanks, I was hoping it would most likely not be a problem. I know everyone says to buy where you plan to stay the most but to me the appeal of DVC is to experience all of the resorts, as well as some of the hotels. I am hoping that if I am flexible I will be able to use it that way.

Theoretically speaking, if I want to stay Jan 1-Jan 8 I could make the ressie June 1st? I would think it goes by the 1st night but for some reason I seem to remember reading that it goes by the last?
