Good News: We got SSR dedicated 2BR for the week of Thanksgiving. Our first visit home for Thanksgiving!!!

Great News: My parents have decided to join us after inviting them to WDW for a full blown WDW vacation for years. (We did get them to AKL for 2 nights several years ago shortly after it opened.)

Bad News: My mom asked me if we were staying in the Epcot resort area as that is where she always wanted to stay since we took them to dinner at Cape May Cafe years ago.

I have been pondering this for about a week with DH, trying to figure out whether I should even try at 7 months out at BCV. I would have to book day by day but I know the hardest days to get will be the last two days of our trip - Wed. and Thurs. (Thanksgiving night). Because of our points situation, I will have to give up our SSR ressie to book BCV day by day. I'm sure my mother will be perefectly happy at SSR as we love it there but DH did bring up a good point that BCV may be a better location due to my parents' disabilities. My father will be using a scooter and my mom tires easliy since her stroke two years ago. BCV will have much easier access to EC and the Studios. We plan 2 days at EC, one at the Studios and one at MK.

Two questions: Is it even in the realm of possibilites to be able to get a 2 BR at BCV for Thanksgiving week, including waitlisting? If I inquire with MS a few days before the 7 month window, will they tell me current availabilty at BCV so I can gage whether or not to give up my SSR?

We love SSR and after OKW, BCV is our favorite. If we didn't have pesty college costs to contend with, I would be bugging DH to add on at BCV!!!

you never know until you try.

definitely ask MS before you do anything.

when you do decide to change - find a MS who will cancel your reservation one day at a time -when they fill the BCV.

they can do this.

We just returned from a dedicated two-bedroom at SSR, from the same vacation -- our family of four with my two parents. We also were concerned about all the walking, as my Dad has had a stroke. He can walk, but he tires easily.

The trip was great. We requested, and happily got, the Grandstand area. It is very close to the main house with Artist Palette and also close to a bus station. We just went at a slower pace, and my Dad could handle it just fine.

We also thought about the Epcot area as a possibility, but SSR worked out better. We did visit the area after we finished Epcot. The walk from International Gateway to the BCV was longer than I remembered, with a little hill.

I thought you might want to know that SSR was OK with someone slower paced and that you may do more walking at BCV. Good luck with you decision.

Thank you for the responses!
M&Mwish - Thanks for sharing about your father and walking. I was thinking BCV might be a little more exhausting. I would love to keep our SSR reservation, especially if I knew we could get the Grandstand area. I am afraid we will be later in the bus stop order and have a hard time getting a bus for the scooter. I was also thinking of OKW because I think they will try to accomodate us in units 62-64 which are for special needs guests. And then again, I want to please my mother and stay at BCV as I doubt there will be another trip with my parents. Decisions, decisions, decisions! I think I will let it up to fate. I will wait until I can book the last date of our vacation at the 7 month period. If BCV is not available for the 5 days, I will stick with SSR and pray for the Grandstand section.

Thanks again for the responses!

Personally? I would stay with the dedicated 2 bedroom at SSR. You know you will have 2 Q's in the second bedroom, and that's most likely not the case at BCV, even if you manage to get a dedicated.
