Do they ever take walk-ins at Chef Mickey's or is it strictly by reservation? If so, when is the best time to call and check for cancellations? My sister had said she was NOT interested in a character meal and now she is changing her mind. We got O'hana's for 8/5, but I would rather us do Chef Mickey's--it is full for the whole week we are there.:guilty: I am hoping we can get a reservation if we keep trying.

A few years ago my family and I were able to walk-in there for dinner, however with the Disney Dining Plan being a lot more popular now I would say it's a very slim chance of going there as a walk-in. My advice is to keep trying because you never know when someone might cancel, or take your chances and go as a walk-in because you never know.

You CAN get a walk in but it is VERY rare. You have to remember:

Chef Mickey's is a buffet, and Ohana's is a family meal. A buffet has more options, but it depends on which characters you like. If you like the main characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, ect.) do Chef Mickey's. If you like Lilo and Stich, do Ohana's.

I recomend doing Chef Mickeys for breakfast and Ohana's for dinner. Keep in mind that Ohana's Character Meal are ONLY breakfast, not dinner.

Both resturants are booked 180 days in advance ALOT, so it is VERY rare to get a walk in. You could try though :)

I would keep calling right up until the day you want to go as people cancel all the time.....you never know when something might become available :goodvibes.

We went last January and were able to walk in for dinner with 6 people! We just happened to be there when it opened and dh was REALLY nice to the hostess. He somehow schmoozes his way into any Disney restaurant, now that I think of it.

My advice to you is to get there before the restaurant opens (I think it opens at 5 pm?). Get there around 4:30 pm and ask very nicely if there is any way that you can get in for dinner. You might just get lucky...especially at the beginning of the night.

Good luck :thumbsup2

Keep calling! I've gotten some great ADR's less than a week before my trips!

Sorry, I forgot to say we are looking for breakfast at Chef Mickey's. So, I should just keep trying every day to see if there is a cancellation? I've always booked way in advance, so this is new to me.

I would say its a very minimal chance. You would need to get there right at opening as in say 15 minutes before for the best chance. I would just keep calling, if nothing pops up, at least you have O'Hana. I wouldn't even try for a walk up myself.

I agree with CR Resort Fan 4 LIfe. The DDP has made walk ups very hard. Especially at places like Chef Mickey's.

One of my coworkers is going to WDW for the first time July 29th-August 5th. She didn't even know about ADRs until I told her about them about two weeks ago. She called this past weekend, got a very nice CM, and basically just threw herself on his mercy, and asked him for any recommendations and help he could give. He was able to get her a breakfast ADR for two at Chef Mickey's on August 1st.

Just keep calling. People cancel all the time. We're going the first week of September and I called just last week and canceled the Plaza and 1900 Park Fare. I was able to get the Wave and Boatwrights with no problem. I was also offered a Crystal Palace ADR, but didn't like the time.

keeping ringing up, people cancel ADR i just cancelled about 2 days ago a reversation at Chef Mickeys for the 4th Aug for 8:15am for 4.

so you never know keeping ringing!!!! good luck!

I wish you would have posted this last week. Our original vacation was scheduled Aug 3-9 but we had to reschedule the trip to October. So ALL of my ressies were moved to those dates. I had a couple of Chef Mickey reservations. Call back and keep checking. If I had to cancel mine I know and am sure there are others. :thumbsup2

Almost none. I would keep trying for a cancellation if I really wanted to eat there.

I have walk in pleanty of times. I have a family of 7. But when I did this I was in line by 4:30 the latest. They open at 5:00. Good Luck!

I would not suggest trying to walk in when the ADRs are already sold out. The chances of getting turned away are higher than they would be if there were still ADRs available. If you want that restaurant, try for an ADR.

I would keep trying to call... I got CRT for breakfast on 8/31 just the other night...

We showed up at O'hanas one night when they had no available reservations. We had to wait 45 mins but got the best seat in the house just in time to see the fireworks! So I can't imagine they actually turn people away, but ....

I know u said breakfast, but CM's is doing lunch for certain days. Lunch is from 12-2:30. See if lunch is being offered when you are there and if so if a noon seating is available.

This thread reminded me to call to see if there were any Chef Mickey adr's available for our trip since my dd just told me that is what she really wanted ;) ...... I just got off the phone and the cm I spoke to was surprised to tell me there was actually one adr available for breakfast on 8/21 at 7:15 a.m. - it is EARLY, but it will actually turn out good because the earlier we are up and out, the better.
