Merry Christmas morning all!

I got up this morning and realized that one of the nicest presents I could get would be the discovery of the location of the accessible rooms at the Dolphin so I can start planning my post-Wonder cruise stay at the Dolphin in May. I contacted the Dolphin by e-mail from their website last month and no response. Anyone out there know my heart's desire on this chilly Christmas morning?........ I mean, if it weren't for the enthusiastic and detailed support of the S/D on this board I'd never have heard of SPG cards, saving points to trade for Concierge level, or those fabulous new beds..... :wave2: Thanks for your help.... and a very Happy Holiday to all!

I am not sure what you mean about accessible rooms but all the rooms at the Dolphin are readily accessible to dining, the pool and transportation. Our most recent trip in August, we stayed on the second floor on one of the wings (I forget the number but we were towards the back of the hotel by the pool; we ended up getting an end room with the two balconies-- WE LOVE LOVE LOVE those rooms because we have somewhere to sit and talk at night when DS is sleeping--crib takes up too much room in regular balcony rooms). That room ended up being a long walk from the elevator; if we didn't have a stroller it would have been easier because we could have walked up the stairs. But we didn't really mind that much the view from the windows on the walk was beautiful and our DS loves running in the hallways and looking at the murals on the walls.

Accessible, as in will my electric scooter fit through the door?

Or accessible, as in will I have to travel so far to get to the designated service dog bathroom area that I might as well pack a lunch before the safari.....

or, accessible, as in usable by those who have disabilities other than motor deficits.

Love ya, mean it.:)

I thought that the bottom level rooms with a patio and sliding glass door were accessible. There are some that face the pool, which I would LOVE. If you are worried about noise, I would request one that is not next to the pool. The Dolphin staff is very nice. Call the 800 number and ask them for the specifics.

Now that I have a better understanding of your specific needs I would suggest requesting a wheel chair accessible room in the main hotel. Any of the rooms locating in the wings of the hotel require a longer walk. Also request to be close to the elevators.

I would hope that in the future you would respond a little more kindly to those individuals trying to help you plan your Disney vacation. Being a trained in the mental health profession I would never assume that "accessible" meant that you need a wheel chair accessible room. It would have been disrespectful and rude to do so. I was just trying to assist you in your planning.

I hope you have a wonderful time.

I stayed at the Dolphin in September and used a scooter - it fit through the hotel room door no problem. There is also a perfect sized space in the room where you can park up your scooter so it is not in the way.

If you visit you Disabilities Forum on this site you will find lots of useful info.

HTH :D

We stayed at the Dolphin last year and a Full sized wheel chair fit through the door easily. We had an MGM view over the lake. We loved it!
