I usually use body glide for my son, he gets chaffed pretty bad between his thighs if I don't. I also use if for myself when I wear skirts in the summer for walking around all day at the parks. That said..I really do love body glide and it lasts all day without reapplying, but is there something that works the same or better? I have heard of the monistat stuff and saw it at target. The body glide stuff is hard to find around here, so i'm looking to find something easier to find.

The Monistat gel is great. Lanacane also makes one (it should be in the blister/band aid area of the store instead of the feminine area)

It dries to a powder soft feel and I think it's much better than Body Glide. It does seem expensive, but usually a tiny amount (maybe pea-sized) is all you need so the tube lasts a while.

:banana:You could also order Body Glide from a sporting goods store. I ordered mine from Amazon. I got a better deal on it through them as well. I also bought Anti-Monkey butt from Rite Aid, and that with Body Glide helped me a lot more than the year before when I chafed badly.

Happy dance! 1000th post!!! Yeah!!!

Thank you! Have you used body glide? Monistat is better or the other one?

Maybe there's just something wrong with me, but I had a bad experience with body glide.

I bought it for our first trip because I had read it was a "must-have" on the Dis. I put on the tops of my feet one day (to use with flip flops). It was horribly sticky and I had to wipe it off, put on socks and sneakers, and I was still uncomfortable with it. I cannot imagine how nuts it would have made me if I had used it on my thighs and then tried to walk around the parks.

Try runner stores, they're highly likely to carry Bodyglide, that's where I get mine.I wonder why they don't have Bodyglide at every Walgreens or CVS,it's a must item for tons of people.

seriously, you thought it was sticky. Are you sure you're talking about the same product, when I put it on anywhere I can barely even tell I just applied it,you literally don't feel it.

Hahahahahaha!!!! There are two products out there with the name "Body Glide". Was yours found in the same area of the store where you could buy such things as pregnancy tests? If so, that is not the right kind. The kind we are talking about is similar to a deodorant stick and is not sticky at all. I happened to see the other type by the same name last year. I am not laughing at you, just at the mental picture. When someone told me that I could find it in that aisle I was confused, but went looking for it anyway. I was even more confused when the bottle I found had a picture of a strawberry on the front of it. I decided to read the label, and it was NOT the same kind of body glide. Oh, please tell me if that is what happened????? It would explain the stickiness for sure!

It feels silky and smooth like deodorant, but if what I am guessing happened did in fact happen, then I imagine it was pretty sticky.:rotfl2:

No, it was definitely the Body Glide Anti-Chafing stick. I'm a bit more intelligent than to make the mistake you're imagining, but I am glad you got a laugh. That would be pretty funny. Yes, it was like a deodorant stick and I purchased it online from a sporting goods store before our trip.

It wasn't sticky like a "lubricant" ;) it was sticky-ish and uncomfortable to me like a deodorant. Maybe it's because I was going to attempt to wear it with crocs flip flops, so it was the combination of the two. Maybe I am just too sensitive. You describe it as being "silky and smooth like deodorant", but to me deodorant isn't silky or smooth and I especially couldn't use it on my thighs or feet with flip flops.

I know everyone on the Dis loves Body Glide, but I think the anti-chafing powder-gels from Monistat and Lanacane feel much better on my skin. To me, these are silky and smooth. Body Glide feels sticky like I rubbed deodorant on myself.

No one is doubting your intelligence, especially since it is impossible to judge someone's intelligence from one little post on a forum. It would be a simple and understandable mistake if it had been what happened. It would also have been hilarious. I'm just sayin'. No really, a woman on a thread last year did buy the other stuff, but luckily came on the Disboards to ask about it before she used it. It would have just been awesome to hear that someone had in fact used it that way. Sort of like the time when we had a couples retreat for our young married couples class, and in our leader's gift basket, as a joke, we put a small bottle of warming lubricant. He thanked us for the handsoap. One of the most intelligent men I know, yet had no idea what it was used for. Very funny.

It is wierd that it reacts that way on your skin. I don't think it was the Crocs b/c I wear crocs with it and have no issue. I just wish I could find something that keeps me COMPLETELY chafe free. I have to wear my clothes bigger b/c my weight is in my stomach and chest, so when I fit shorts and such to my stomach, they are way too big in the legs. The seams rub me like nobody's business. This year I am trying moisture wicking clothes. I hope it works. I even wore my pants inside out last year in hopes of the seams not rubbing me, and that didn't even work 100%. The body glide and Anti-Monkey butt made it manageable though. It wasn't even a fraction as bad as two years ago.

I wonder why there are two products on the market with the same name like that. I didn't think that was allowed to happen.

Body glide didn't work on my feet either. I put it all over our feet before we went to the parks. I wore classic crocs. I felt like I was going to slip right out of my shoes..lol. It was horrible that way. But it does work well for thighs. I'm going to give the monistat a try though. Do you put that on your feet too?

I didn't put it on the bottoms of my feet, so maybe that's why it worked well for me. The only time I put any kind of product on the bottom of my feet is when I am going to bed or won't be putting shoes on for a while. Even lotion gets slippery.

I bought Body Glide and the Monostat for our trip last summer and we did not like the Body Glide at all. However, the Monostat (I think we actually bought an off-brand) worked wonderfully and I would buy that again. My daughter has continued to use the Monostat on occasion and I told my friend about it too and they are hooked. :)
