CG and Credit Card ?

We have been dining in the CG for years and never had to make a credit card deposit. Is this new and does anyone know why? As a matter of fact we just dined in January and they never asked for a credit card guarantee. Any information would be appreciated. Thank You.

We dined there in January without the deposit as well but I think it was around two months ago that there were reports it was now needed for new reservations. Did you call? I need to do so myself but keep dithering about our plans for our next trip. But I really should call for CG before I get shut out.

It's new--and several theories out there as to just why they did it. But I just made ADR for the CG in early May and had to give the credit card information-

I called on the 14th and gave a CC. I think a lot of people make ADR's and don't show up or cancel. I have heard this is what happened to CRT. With California Grill I have to cancel 48 hrs out or they charge.

The cc is only a guarantee...they aren't charging a deposit. They only charge the card if you don't show up or cancel within 48 hours, and I think it's $10 per person. I think it's basically due to the popularity of the restaurant, especially during fireworks times. This guarantees that more people will show up for reservations or cancel within reasonable time so that the restaurant doesn't end up with a bunch of empty tables when people get "stuck" in the parks and decide to just skip the dinner. It also allows people who were "shut out" to have a crack at last minute cancellations as late as 2 days out.

I made our ADR'S several monthas ago and was not asked for a cc. Hope they still have our ADR and all is OK!!! I will probably check it all out a couple of weeks before we go.
