That's what I was suggesting. Direct point accumulation past certain levels gives incremental booking advantage. It's all a pipe dream anyway - DVC won't do that, not matter how much I post about it.
Yup I totally understood your previous statements.

It does make sense for Disney to incentivize buying direct that way in the future but then as @Patmcpsu pointed out there would be even more classes/levels of DVC than there are now with DVC-BY, DVC-Y and DVC-N.

Since DVC-BY is not a status per membership but per person perhaps they could grant it for all on the membership after reaching a set amount of direct points or something smaller that doesn't really affect others as much.

Each resort can have their own rules and it’s a function of the DVC membership and DVC resort agreement.

We tend to think of things as one big pool of resorts when it comes to trades, but it’s not.

First, home resorts period snd booking rules for that can never be different based on how you acquired points.

FL timeshare law prevents that. So, no matter how you got your points, you get the same rules.

When it comes to trades, the DVC resort agreements say it opens when the home resorts period ends.

The reason that there is a restriction for RIV and beyond is because of the way those new resorts entered into BVTC per their DVC Resort Agreeement.

They entered with the rules that the only points eligible for trading in are direct and resale purchased prior to 2019, in exchange for their resale points not to be eligible for trades.

Once that happened, the fee paid to BVTC changed for those resorts. The O14 all pay a $1 per member to trade where as the restricted resorts pay a set fee, $25K

They had to change it because resale owners at RiV, VDH, and CFW don’t have access to trades.

I think in order for DVC to implement a change that gives direct points advantage to trade over resale points in BVTC, each resorts DVC Resort agreement would need to be changed.

I also agree that I can not see them making different home resort periods except when we get closer to the 2042 resorts and then I can see them extending it for those particular ones.

Thanks, Sandi. This was helpful. It explained some of the inner-workings to me!
