I don't know exactly what forum to put this in, so here I am. I need to make some easy and inexpensive centerpieces for DS's Cub Scout Blue and Gold dinner next Sunday. I would like the boys to help me put them together on Wednesday. I was hoping for something made out of cardstock (like a container or something) or maybe a paper bag. Something that won't be too expensive, as I won't be reimbursed. The colors are Blue, Yellow and Orange.

Please share your ideas with me! Thanks!

I can tell you what we did. We had the kids make flowers of Blue and Gold paper, I made the template that they followed out of old file folders, tulip shaped. 2 pieces for each flower. They were glued together over a Popsicle stick. The kids wrote the name of each family member on the flowers, with some extras to become a bouquet. They decorated the flowers with glitter, and jewels, and more glitter. These were then put in a small can that was covered with paper that had their troop nickname on it. Each kid and his family had their own centerpiece.

It was just messy enough for them to love it, but it still looked really cute.

I like that idea better than the one I was going to suggest. I was going to say flowers out of tissue paper and then glittered or colored before hand with the blue and gold, pipecleaner stems and paper bag lined with ziplocs filled with kitty litter to hold the flowers. The kitty litter can due double duty in this weather as emergency road side preparedness when done with being centerpieces.

But I like ddavis' idea better.
