I was visiting Arlington National Cemetary yesterday. I noticed a handful of graves throughout the park (none were near one another), (I'd say about 12) had 2 brown stones placed on top of the headstone. Each one that was like this had 1 large and 1 small stone. I was very curious as to the meaning behind this. It seemed too "planned" to be coincidental. Anyone know if this has a meaning??

I don't have an answer, but maybe you should change your title to say Arlington.

Isn't Arlington inspiring? I felt very peaceful there as well, but I didn't notice any brown stones.

I know that some people place stones on a gravestone to show they've been there. I think this is a common Jewish tradition but I've seen other people do it as well. The fact that you think the stones on the different graves are the same sizes may mean they signify something else. I'm curious now, too.

Dan-- thanks for the link. That was interesting to read. I've been wondering this ever since we left yesterday,

Dan, Dan the Link Man strikes again! Very interesting! And here I was just about to go to bed worrying that I hadn't learned ANYTHING today!!!

I am constantly amazed at how small the world is due to the Net. Amazing.
