Cellier vs Chef de France

Which would you rcoomend, for those who have sampled both? We typically like steak and and my wife likes traditional Creme Brulee for dessert. With that in mind which would be the best choice? I think that Cellier has a flavored Creme, I think Maple? Thanks for your comments.

Having eaten at both, Le Cellier wins hands down for me. The filet is absolutely lovely and the maple creme brulee is heaven. When we dined at Chef de France, the cheese plate sucked beyond belief, the mac and cheese was not the best and the dessert (can't remember the name - yeah, that bad) was stale tasting and ick.

We have done both and loved both but I give the edge to Chefs de France. The food was amazing and we had a seat right by the window....it was awesome

I would've said France. Unfortunately we had our worst meal EVER in Disney, maybe even at any restaurant in years at Chefs last Saturday night. The only good part was our seat by the windows. The food was marginal and the service, well horriffic would be a compliment. Not to mention that 8 hours later I was violently ill! Try LeCellier. Tough to get in, but worth it.

we enjoyed chefs de france and are going back this year. we loved le cellier, but there is no availability for the week we are going.

I would've said France. Unfortunately we had our worst meal EVER in Disney, maybe even at any restaurant in years at Chefs last Saturday night. The only good part was our seat by the windows. The food was marginal and the service, well horriffic would be a compliment. Not to mention that 8 hours later I was violently ill! Try LeCellier. Tough to get in, but worth it.

and the duck for my entree. For dessert, Creme Brulee. They tried to serve me my duck 3 TIMES, yes that's THREE, before I got my appetizer. Of course, they only had my dinner, not my hudbands. (where that was, who knows?) By the time we got our food, which I'm sure was the same duck they tried to serve me three times already, it was 2 hours and 15 minutes after we were seated!

The table next to us actually set their appetizer plates ON THE FLOOR, because they didn't clear them before serving them their dinners! When they pointed it out to a passingwaitress, so she wouldn't step on them (she was not not their waitress), the person actually STEPPED OVER THE PLATES, LEAVING THEM THERE!!!

We should have gotten up and left when we had to ask for our waiter 35 minutes after being seated, and still waited another 10 for her to show up, but we had such a great meal there in April, we really wanted to give it a chance. It was a serious waste of 3 hours of our night and 2 dining credits. Not to mention the 2 hours of lost sleep later in the evening.

People seated a 9pm at the bistro upstairs, left before us and we were seated at 8pm. Actually had to RUN to the busses back to our resort, as we got done at 11pm, and the busses stopped running at 11pm that night. All around a BAD experience!

We make a point of eating at both each of our trips. We were last at both in August and loved both our meals.

Chefs has plain Creme Brulee and it is fabulous but the Maple Creme Brulee at LeCellier is the best.

My son had the Duck and loved it at Chefs. The rest of us all really enjoyed our entrees. Our server at Chefs was a wonderful older gentleman who had worked there for over 20 years. He was a true frenchman and kissed my wife's hand on our way out.

LeCellier, however, is our favourite. 3 of 4 of us had the Mushroom Filet Mignon which is my favourite meal at WDW. The rissotto was a bit salty but better that than not salty enough. Nothing sucks the flavour out of rice like not using salt. Our server was very good and when my wife's Filet arrived a bit overcooked (she likes it rare) they replaced it very quickly. The bread is also the best at WDW and we had two servings of it. To top it off everyone there is Canadian, and as we Canadians all know, we are the friendliest people in the world.

If you can get into LeCellier, I would say go there. Otherwise, go to Chefs. I don't think you will be disappointed. Gives you a chance to speak French as well.

I am so sorry about your experience at Chefs. Did you tell anyone at cust service (either restaurant mgmt or at your hotel - re. plates on the floor, being sick, etc.). I would hope they would want to know about these things. My family has ADRs for both Chefs & Le Cellier in Jan. Hoping for a better experience.

but during our meal, there was no one around who cared. We had made a point to speak to the manager, Phillipe on our way in, as we had such a wonderful meal in April. He was pleasant, but was MIA later in the evening when we had our issues, and anyone we tried to speak with during the "events" immediately scurried away after giving our concerns a brief listen. At the end of the meal there was no one at the front desk, no one in the dining room except for our waitress and unfortunately, we had to run to the busses to get back to the resort.

I have penned a note to Disney, but I find that it does little good once you are no longer there. I guess that the lesson learned is that if things are going horribly wrong, it's best to leave, noting your reasons to the manager on the way out and not wait to see if things get better.

Like I said before, in April, it was our best meal in WDW. It was shocking to have it be the worst meal I've had in YEARS, in ANY restaurant ANYWHERE a mere 5 months later.

I'm not saying that I wouldn't try them again, but I certainly wouldn't go on a Saturday night later in the evening again.

I'll be sure to know what, if anything I hear from Disney.

I've never eat at Chefs, but I DID plan my whole vacation that we recently took around the fact that the Thursday night we got there was the only available reservation open for Le Cellier during all of the timeframes I could have gone. I took the dining ressie first and then booked the trip around the ressie.

I vote for France. Ate at Canada the last time and was disappointed.

I ate at both in August, and they're both amazing.

At Chefs, I had the duck entree and it was fabulous. It was perfectly cooked, and the server was really nice. The creme brulee was delicious, and on my previous trip, it sparked my idea to eat creme brulee at every restaurant that had it.

Le Celier was just fantastic. The first thing I can comment on is the world-class breadsticks. The pretzel bread was the greatest bread at WDW, and we got more. I was the only one in my party who didn't get the mushroom filet mignon, and I learned my lesson. One party member gave me a taste, and it was the greatest non-dessert food I'd ever tasted. I got the salmon, and it was very good, but the lentils were a tiny bit too salty. For dessert, I had the maple creme brulee, and it was one of the greatest things I'd ever tasted.

All in all, they were both fantastic, and I'd say to go to both if you could, but Le Cellier is my pick. For Le Cellier, I would say that unless you're a vegetarian, get the mushroom filet mignon unless you're really concerned about cost. If you are a vegetarian, why are you going to a steak house in the first place?

Yikes - that's terrible! I'm sorry you got so sick and had such a bad experience! I don't think we'll be trying Chefs anytime soon...

the cheddar cheese soup and mushroom filet or the onion soup and lamb shank.

The lobster bisque at Chefs de France is absolutely delicious (so rich and creamy, with nice sized pieces of meat!) and I love the creme brulee there.

The service does seem to be a bit slower there than some other counter service restaurants, particularly in getting the check at the end of the meal, much like how it really is if you ever dine in France! (It will take about two hours to eat a three course meal., but just be sure to ask for the check as soon as possible if you are in a hurry.)
