Cell service providers vs WiFi in park?

What’s the score on cel service vs WiFi in the parks? I’ll probably be using the app a lot - perhaps trying to nab LL refills and whatnot. My sister said the Wi-Fi network was terrible…but that was years ago. I read the same elsewhere on this board, but it was also kind of an old post. Anyone have current information?

As to providers: My family currently has AT&T, but we’re thinking of switching to T-Mobile. I noticed AT&T is a Disney sponsor of some kind (had their name on something park related but I can’t remember what)…does that mean AT&T has any better service there? Wondering if I should wait to switch until after our Sept visit.

Thanks!

We have Verizon and have never had service issues in the parks. Tried the wifi years ago and it was slow at the time so have just used cell service ever since.

We rely mostly on ATT cell service in the parks when we visit DL. We do sometimes use their wifi as well. Its mostly a matter of remembering to connect to the Disney wifi which takes a couple of extra taps that keeps us from using it more.

I have Verizon and used to find the wifi pretty poor. But in recent years that's changed significantly. I always connect to wifi now. There are some spots in the park where it can drop off, so I just make sure to keep "auto-join" on in case. And I've never had issues relying on cell service as a backup.

I usually just use my data, which is T-Mobile. The only dead spots I've experienced are parts of Indy and Soarin. I don't use the wifi too much, except for maybe in the room (if onsite). The signal in the room seems fine, but I just don't trust relying on the park wifi.

We come from Australia and the last time we visited we bought AT&T sim cards before we left home. Once on the plane we swapped out our Aussie sim cards and activated our new ones. We spent time in LA, at Universal and at DL and never had a problem with coverage. We got an unlimited data card knowing we would be using it a lot in DL and it worked like a charm. I had read beforehand how bad the WiFi was in the parks and I did not want to leave that to chance as I wanted to get the best out of our Genie+ and be able to book LL's quickly and easily. I am just about to buy three more for our upcoming trip in December.

I use Straight Talk and had my phone set up to use the parks WIFI service. I never had any issues. I have MORE issue around my town where there are several dead zones.

Here now. Verizon latest edition Galaxy phone. I needed to enable the Disney WiFi as I had many dead spots when trying to access the tip board for LLs. With the WiFi had access on the interior of many rides, with the exception of cavernous ones like PoTC or SM.
