Cell Phones

Yep, we will be taking our Nextel phones again for 2-way communication between the families.

Our Nextel phones worked gret in the rooms and park. The only place we had a problem was at MCO.

We also used the text messaging on our cell phones a lot. It was quick and easy without having to stop and talk on the phone. We would just send a message about where we were or when to meet up. It was great!
Another text messager. Would text dh where I was an he would join me. I was told by a Cingular rep that all the services basically use the same towers. Except for dead areas whether you can call is dependent on your phone not the service. Some phones are better than others. Yeah! Sidekick II

How about between parks and various places? Like between Epcot and for example the Wal Mart in town

We used cell phones when we went with a group of friends in January - all off brands - Edge, US Cell, etc. They worked great - we kept them on vibrate and were always able to reach each other. Since we were from California and all had the "western states" plan - it was pretty expensive. My bill is normally $45.00 but was $161.00 for that month. We just chalked it up the expense of vacation.

Everywhere in Orlando has pretty good service. I have used sprint for years now, and the only trouble I had is in certain spots in the resorts my phone wouldn't work, but if I stepped outside it was fine.

A coule side nots, if one company has good service not all of them will contrary to popular belief they do NOT piggy back off of each other as there are about 8 different frequencies. If cingulair/t-mobile works in an area there is NO guarantee sprint/verizon will as they run off of completely different technologies.

Another side note, virgin mobile is owned by virgin airlines/virgin megastore and they contract their tower service out to sprint so anywhere you have sprint service you will have vm service.

Make sure your plan covers you to be in Orlando before you go or else this could be messy!
