I was at DAK and MGM with my nephew this past weekend and every time we entered an attraction I got a "No Service" message on my phone. Do they jam them or otherwise interfere with reception of cell phones to reduce "Noise Pollution"????

Oh, I hope this is not the case because I was planning to use them to split up our party (with the teens going off a bit by themselves). What service do you have?

They are not purposely (sp?) jamming your signal. There is so much metal and electronic equipment inside the attractions that your phone just isn't strong enough in most cases to get a good signal.

I've had no problem using my phone in common areas and outside and they make great tools for keeping in touch with friends and family in the parks. If you have text messaging they are even better because the text message will keep trying to send until it is recieved.

I know they aren't jamming them...unfortunately. Don't take this the wrong way, as it's nothing personal of course, but I have heard so many phones during shows recently that the jamming would be welcome! It's fine if it rings and someone quickly turns it off, but when it rings about 5 full rings, then stops, then does that about three more times during the same show, it's ridiculous. But I do not think the signals could possibly be jammed, as I heard them ring in every single show I saw between my two trips. Perhaps it is your service provider? Maybe they don't have towers nearby or something.

My family was there the end of April and so were my sister-in-law and her family. We met at times and split up at times, but were alwasys able to keep in touch with our cell phones about places and times to meet up. We couldn't have done it without the phones and we never had any problems. Guess we were just lucky!!

I have Cingular nationwide service and had no problem using my phone in all of the parks. If you don't get service, it's probably your provider or the phone itself.

I have heard that Nextel phones work very well there also.

Sometimes I think it's just luck. After this past week, we can't figure out who gets service and who doesn't. DH, DS #1, DS #2, and I went to WDW, each with a cell phone and Verizon service. DH had a better model phone, but the other 3 of us had the same ones. So why is it that DS #1 and I had no problems and yet DS #2 could never get service? DS #1, newly graduated from college, was even able to communicate and get a job offer from a company in Laredo (Yes, I admit- brag, brag!)on his cell phone. It's all a mystery to me!
