Cell phone rental for Med. cruise

Does anyone know about renting a cell phone for use in Europe? My carrier is Nextel and I know they have no international coverage. I don't want to buy another phone or sign a long service contract, just something for the cruise. Any info. would be great, I am so technically challenged.

Not Europe, but we did this in Japan. It was very reasonable, $20-30 for a whole week. Calls were on the high side, about $0.99 per minute. But we only had it for emergencies and maybe used 8-10 minutes. We picked up the phone at the airport after claiming our luggage. Then returned it at the end of the week, prior to passing through the security gates.

We booked the trip through Expedia and they had an option for cell phone rental.
