Cell phone plans...

There is no longer a maximum number of subscribers in a party group. I joined one of the huge reddit parties. No reason for anyone paying more then 25 per month.

edited to add a link to the party group I'm in. It's not my group. I don't get any direct or indirect compensation. There are over 2,000 members. I doubt it will ever go below 4.

Google will help you if you want to find other parties.

For the benefit of people reading this thread. Pre-paid plans like Visible and Cricket quote a bottom line price. $25 per month means you pay $25 a month with no extra fees or taxes.

WOW!!!

@Lewisc = do you find the data is throttled more?

There are two people on our Verizon plan and we pay $90-95/month for 10 GB of data. It's been a very long time since I've been part of this type of plan.... I just know if we don't like it, that it would cost us more to go back to Verizon...

I've never observed a throttling issue. I use wifi at home. I use cell data for email, spotify. weather and some web browsing. I don't know if heavy video streaming would be an issue. I'll put up with the potential of throttling for the price.

Visible is running a labor day promotion.$15 a month for 2 months. Find an old phone and try it out.
edited to add I might have some concern if I was relying on extensive data for business or if I need extensive hot spot

I love all the discounts that stack up on my Verizon Prepaid Plan for 3 people in my house. All 3 have Unlimited Talk and Text but the data plan is different for DD. Loyalty Discount applies per line after 3 months (-$5) and again after 9 months (-$5) per line, so the math is as follows (we all purchased our own unlocked phones):

Person 1: Unlimited Talk & Text with 5GB Data $40 - $5 Autopay Discount - $10 Loyalty Disccount = $25
Person 2: Unlimited Talk & Text with 5GB Data $40 - $5 Autopay Discount - $10 Loyalty Disccount = $25
Person 3: Unlimited Talk & Text with 15GB Data $50 - $5 Autopay Discount - $10 Loyalty Disccount = $35

So my monthly bill total is $87 for 3 lines ($25+$25+$35+$2 tax/fees).

None of us ever went over our data limit, even when on vacation. And if we do we can easily purchase a $10 data pass.

its been awhile since they offered this to me (4 months) but you can also ask T-Mobile to give you a test account and add it via eSIM so you don’t have to give up Verizon and not be paying for T-Mobile during the trial period. especially interesting to try out on a trip to WDW…

ATT, 2 phones that we own. We have unlimited, talk, text, data. We pay $88 a month. This is with a veterans discount. We never ever buy phones through a carrier (big ripoff). We always use Swappa dot com and have loved every phone we have purchased and gotten a great deal. We purchased new phones for the record. (You can buy used if you choose). This is a great thread.

T-Mobile - 2 lines on the 55+ plan, so unlimited everything - $42.10
When I signed up the phones ( OnePlus 8T 5G 256MB) were a BOGO free offer, but through a glitch it turned out to be buy none get two free. So the bill credits for BOTH phones bring the total cost down.

Tracfone. Last year I paid $65 for a Samsung phone with a year service, 1500 minutes, 1500 texts, and 1.5 Gb of Data. I usually run out of texts, it's another $5 for 1000 more. So basically less than $6 a month, and I didn't have to buy a phone.

I use Wifi, the no data is not a big deal for me.

Verizon start unlimited talk, text and data plan, veterans discount, five lines (all phones paid for) $125ish. No hotspots on any of the phones, but my husband just added one to his line and I think that’s an additional $10?

Straight Talk $45 a month for my phone with unlimited calling, text, and 10G internet when not on wifi. If I would travel to Mexico or Canada I could up that particular month to a higher plan which is either $55 or $60 but since I don't I have no idea what the price is without looking it up. $35 a month for teenager's plan which is similiar to mine but only so much of the internet at a 5G speed though this month when I got purchased the card it was now for a limited time 10G but then it goes down to 2G though this month it is 5G. Teenager has not had a problem with it running out though does have to make sure to use wifi when it is available such as at home. DH $25 Total Wireless Plan which is supposed to be just unlimited calling and text with no internet unless using wifi though he does seem to have mobile internet but I have no idea how much because well it's not supposed to be there. Ended up switching him when he broke his phone that was on straight talk by dropping it too many times on the concrete floor at work and the only one we could find in our budget range was the one from total wireless. At the time he wasn't using the internet on his phone so it made sense just to stay and save the extra $10 a month. Figured that I could just up his plan to the $35 which does have a limited internet if we were traveling and he would need it for things like navigation or My Disney Experience. We purchase new phones on average about every 30 months though rotate them about 3-4 months apart going with a lower cost phone. I watch sales on the phones and often are able to get phones in the $150-$200 price range without discounts for $75-$100. Note these are phones that are a few years old but they work and if you ask me are good phones plus since it is not the latest I don't have to deal with can I see your phone unless someone needs to use it for making an emergency call. I tend to go with phones that have the option of adding a micro usb card to gain more storage space for photos and stuff.
If I were to say an average spent on phone cards, setting money aside for replacing phones and cases for the phones it is $120 a month but keep in mind we tend to go with higher quality cases such as otterbox which run on the higher price range.

So, I signed up for Visible over the Labor Day weekend because they ran a special...first two months for $15/month.

Went to pay, it said $15, but got charged $40! I contacted them via chat and, instead of refunding, gave me a credit of $25/month. I also apparently have $40 of rewards so I'm not sure how I got that.
So, when I chatted with customer service, they said it should mean that I owe $0 next month (October) but when I check, it says I owe $5 ($40 minus $25 reward minus $10 reward, so it's using $35 of the rewards that I apparently have, but still not giving me the $15/month price so that my balance will be zero for October)...

I guess I will have to have a chat with them in October, before the due date...

Have 2 phones on AT&T prepaid for $50 a month for 5gb each and another phone on Mint at $15 a month. Had a bit of trouble setting up the Mint mobile phone. It was a Samsung and CS told us we could only connect via 2G or 3g in our area. I had to go in and manually change the APN settings to get 4G lte coverage (Which CS did not mention or help us with).

On a related note, Target is having a promo for $5 off $50 Prepaid Wireless Plans that include all the well-known carriers. If you have Red Card, you get additional 5% off, so basically $42.50 for $50 gift card. Once I received the email code, I added it to my Verizon account to apply to my next bill.
