Cell Phone Coverage question and cell phone advice

Last time we went we had HORRIBLE reception with Tmobile!! 3 of us had Tmobile and my BIL had Nextel.
All of us had quite extensive areas of "Dead Zones". Calls were continuosly sent over to voicemail. It was
really quite irritating. Even at POFQ we had to keep leaving the room and go walk around searching for a signal!
We could not wait to get away from Tmobile personally though. Even here at home in NYC it gave us
nothing but grief!! We paid over $400 to break the contracts that bound us all just to get away!!!

We now have Verizon and I am hoping that the coverage is better. I know it is definitely a lot better here at home.
So I am hoping it is better there as well. I had an LG phone and LOVED it, but when I added my youngest dd
to our plan I gave that one to her and bought myself a Razor. I am less than thrilled with it, truth be told. I love
the fact that it fits in my bag or pocket easily, but the reception isn't as clear as it was with my LG. I used my
Speaker Phone and "Driving Mode" constantly with the LG and never had a problem, but the Speaker capabilities on
the Razor just aren't the same, IMO.

Our family has Sprint. DD is a CM and she is able to call on her Sprint phone from the Zoo (character break room) and the Green Room under the Castle and she gets very good reception. Now calling from her townhome is another story--LOL!!

Well we have cingular and hoping for good reception so DH and I can communicate when we go differetly. :teeth:

We have T Mobile and we had no problems at all on our trip in December. We used the phone at MK, EPcot, and MK.

There was a story on the radio news last week about 2 vendors (I forget which) were temporarily stopping sales of the Razor phones. They cited technical difficulties with calls dropping. They said they expected the problems to be addressed within several weeks, and once solved they would start re-selling them.

We have Cingular and I have a razor phone. Cingular service worked great for us in January. I am a little disappointed in my Razor, though. I love the sleakness and the larger LCD screen for my over 40 eyes. However, I have the hardest time hearing the person I am talking to, even with the volume adjusted all the way up. It is a Motorola. I loved my last Motorola flip phone. DS loves his Razor and blames my issues on my over 40 ears!

i'm copying down the names of everyone on this thread and giving them to the poster whose brother in law jams cell phones in the "interest of homeland security" :smooth: have you not been reading all the crabby threads about cell phones :rotfl2:???? next someone will be writing about a new croc cell phone ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

shhh don't rat me out to the above but we got fine coverage with a cheapo motorola flip phone and alltel network, to bad the coverage isn't as good at our home area

That's the reason we dropped Alltel! We could get fine reception in the woods, but in our apartment, every other call would drop. So glad to not have to deal with that anymore.

We've used Sprint and T-Mobile, both were great everywhere but our room. We always had to stand in the walkway outside.

January was my 1st trip since I changed to Verizon from Cingular. I use a Motorola V276 and had the best coverage of any trip. In buildings and in my room it worked great. Prior trips with Cingular I had to stand on my balcony or walk around outside to get a decent signal.

Got a question about coverage at WDW. Has anyone ever had problems getting a signal while at WDW and if so, who was the carrier? Also, who has experince with razor phones? Are they as durable as regular phones and are they worth getting based on their sleakness? If so, would you get an LG or a Motorola?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

We have Verizon wireless and I have an LG phone and coverage was great other than when we stayed at POR there were spots including in our room that we had little or not signal. Other than that we had never had any issues.

How about a few more T-Mobile users and comments? We just switched to T-Mobile and RAZR's. They are great. Hope that our coverage is adequate?

We're going in October. First time with T-Mobile. What should we expect?

I just bought a Razr a few months ago. Here's the thing about them: they're very delicate. They're also wider than a regular phone so if you have small hands (like me) it sometimes feels awkward to use. The screen is huge and that's a definate plus. If you're going with Verizon (which I recommend, and sadly do not have but boyfriend does), I'd recommend the LG VX8100 (boyfriend and best friend both have this phone), LG Chocolate (new and very expensive slider), Samsung SCH-a930 (has an awesome outside display; friend has this phone), or the LG V (if you like to text message; it opens up to a full QWERTY keypad and huge screen).
