Cell Phone Company's?

My friend bought a cell phone off of ebay but couldn't use it with her cell phone provider. Can you only use certain cell phones with certain company's?

Also the phone says CellularOne on it, I tried to find out where this company does business but every link from their website is a dead link. Does anyone know anyhing about this cell phone company? is it still in business ?

Yes but there is a lawsuit underway that would allow you to use any phone you purchase.

CellularOne is now Cingular. Hope that helps. Annmarie

Cellular One was bought out by AT&T Wireless who has now been purchased by Cingular.
