I have read somewhere on these boards that there are cell phone charging stations in the parks. Does anyone know if there is a list of them available?:confused3

The only dedicated charging station is outside the Rapunzel-themed bathroom in MK next to IASW.

I think everywhere else is just open outlets you can find.

Didn't they just post a news release that in Bay 2 of Cosmic Rays there will be lockers where phones can be left to charge?

Yes, Tomorrowland has charging lockers, but I would be highly suspicious of using them. They're basically using data from your credit card to lock and unlock them, and I wouldn't risk it unless I knew for sure how they were handling that data.

For me, I just bought a cheap rechargeable battery from Monoprice.com, and take that on my trips.

I was thinking the same thing. Seems like somewhere I saw someone say that it didn't have to be a current card? Who knows.
You'd think they could integrate the magic bands in with them somehow. But that would make too much sense.

It's a third-party company doing a trial in the parks. Yes, I would think MagicBands would be the way to go. Or at least, using ANY magstripe card (like a store rewards card. Requiring it to be a credit card for something that is makes me nervous, and I'm not a tin-foil hat type. ;)

There is now a charging station in the Space Mtn. Gift shop. It's along the back wall - there's a counter with outlets and stools to sit on.

I got a small charger off of Amazon for less than $15. It isn't very big and will charge my phone almost two times before having to recharge it. I would much rather have that than to have to leave my phone in a locker or to sit while it charges. I keep it in my bookbag at all times while on vacation and in my purse all other times. It weighs almost nothing and is about 2" x 3" x 1/2". You can get them even smaller, I think.

I had so much charger drama last time that I am bringing an external. I hate sitting down charging when I could be having fun.

We used the charging bays this weekend and were able to open with a gift card.

ETA - it was very slow to charge. Took about an hour to get 20%

Do you have the link by any chance? I guess I'm living in a bubble and had no idea these existed! Thank you for posting!:thumbsup2

I have a razr maxx (non removable battery), but the battery is quite large. Unfortunately my phone is old so doesn't hold like it used to. I use my phone for pics, facebook, texting, MDE app, and of course some candy crush while standing in line. I am typically an opener to closer so knew I would need to charge my phone a couple of times during the day. This is the one I purchased: http://www.amazon.com/15000mAh-Port...F8&qid=1399423864&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+15000

It is a little heavy if you are holding it in your hand, but I had one of those string back pack type dealios and just threw it in there. Honestly didn't notice it when it was on my back. You can search "external phone charger" on amazon and find a whole bunch of different options that will satisfy your needs. I liked the Anker one b/c it has 2 ports so I could charge 2 things at the same time.

I went back in my bought items--it was actually ebay that I got it off of. It was back last year so the link to the actual auction has been disabled. I found one that is similar on Amazon (same manufacturer) and I am posting that link. There are many more on there. Some are cheaper. Some are much more expensive. The one I have does a great job.

I wanted to chime in here....

Thanks to MDE freaking EATING my battery on my galaxy s4, I have brought portable batteries on previous trips and that has worked well for me. I recently lost the last one I bought. so I took to the interwebs to get a replacement yesterday. I found a great deal on one of those deal sites - I'm going to post the link below - You get TWO batteries for 11 bucks and that's a steal!

The bad thing about the lockers or charging stations is you don't have your phone for that time period, whereas with the portable batteries, you do. I really feel like I NEED that phone at all times. Call me a crazy millennial, but I feel a bit lost without a way to get in touch with my husband in case I loose him in the parks.
