cell phone battery - how long does it stay charged?

I have a new phone and I'm really concerned about it's battery.

It doesn't seem to keep a charge as long as my others did.

So what is a *normal* amount of time to work down to *one-bar*, in your opinion?

This isn't an iPhone but is a feature phone. Altho I don't use the internet on it much at all, just calls and texts.

TIA.

That's a hard question, I guess that's why no one has answered. it might help if you posted the brand and model. That way there's something to compare it to.

I have a Palm Pre Plus. It can drain the battery down in ONE day. Yep.. it's terrible, and if I have the bluetooth on to use it in my car it goes that much quicker. It was a big change for me because I was used to my older palm smart phones going at least 3 or 4 days on a charge, now I Have to put in on the charger each night. It's almost become a habit, but at first I too thought something was terribly wrong.!:hippie:

I think that it really depends, but I was concerned when I got my MyTouch 3G slide. I was used to getting 2-4 days before charging with my old non-data capable phone, but now I have to put it on the charger every night.

I think it really depends on how much you use it and what you're doing on it. My husband and I both have a Samsung Captivate. I usually can go every other day charging it, where my husband has to charge his every day. He has a lot more apps and stuff that he uses on his phone. For me, it's mainly talking, texting, checking email and occasionally playing some games to keep the kids entertained.

I have a blackberry. Two things I've learned about battery usage is to shut off the bluetooth if I'm not using it and shut down the application, not just exit. I thought exiting was shutting it off.

My son has an android based phone and he keeps experimenting with his. I know he put gingerbread (possibly just updated the OS?) on it and it is getting better battery life on it now.

Have you tried googling your phone to see if there is a message board? If so, has anyone posted about battery life and how to get the most out of it?

My feature phone was the LG Chocolate Touch and I could go at least 4 days without charging it. Now I have a smart phone (Samsung Charge) and it has taken me some time to get use to charging it at night, but it usually lasts most of the day.

I have never had a feature phone, I went right from a dumb phone to a smart phone, but I charge mine during the day at work and then every night. If I don't charge at work it dies by 7pm.

Newer phones just seem to need to be charged more - I would say for a modern feature phone, every other night is probably reasonable.

I have an iPhone 3GS and I charge it every night. Sometimes I have to put it on the car charger on the way home from work to make it through the evening. I have a docking alarm clock that I charge it on while I sleep.

I LOVE my phone, but I do hate the battery life. It is especially annoying when travelling. If DS watches a movie and plays a few games it is pretty much dead by the time we get to FL and our flight is only about 2.25 hours or so.

My cell phone stays charged for a long time, sometimes a few months, but there's a trick to it. I only turn it on and carry it when I feel like it, which isn't very often.

My phone battery lasts longer between charges when I have it on but don't use it for calls.

I seem to remember reading an estimated time for standby versus phone usage in the phone paperwork, as well as that the batteries are good for a limited number of recharges. My husband's phone started to lose charge quickly after his having had the same phone for a couple years. It was time for a new battery pack. Now that I think about it, DS had problems after he had had the same phone for three or four years.

my feature phone got maybe a day or a little more out of it, but i definitely needed to be charging it every night. i just got my droid yesterday and i charged it once so far and it took a whiiilleee to charge. i knew going into it though that with the amount of web usage and app usage i have, it would not hold a charge for more than a day. half a day at the worst.

My previous phone lasted much longer on a charge than the phone before it, and my new phone lasts a lot shorter. The reason is that the two previous phones didn't have data plans, didn't continually update tiles on the home page with up-to-date info and status of my email and messaging accounts, and overall weren't as useful.
