Cell phone battery back up

I will be carrying at least 3 portable chargers with me in the parks. We plan to do rope drop to close most days and ill be using MDE, the touring plans app and possibly my phone camera. I'll also be carrying extra AA batteries for my camera.

I can highly recommend this:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000m...F8&qid=1510522747&sr=8-3&keywords=anker+20100

Even better that it supports two USB ports, so you can charge multiple devices when you have some downtime. I recommend some smaller packs to charge in your pocket while on the go. And you can use this big battery to top off when you're at a meal, show or longer ride. It hold 7x iPhone charges, so this will keep everyone topped off.

And I highly recommend this charger to top everything off at night:

I also use a mophie and its great. I plug in, keep it in my pocket in the parks, and easily go all day without losing much charge

I have the Anker 20000 model and have been able to charge my iphone 6 at least 4 times on a full charge. The unit does need to charge for a while though.

Amazing, thank you all for the great advice..lots of options to choose from..

- Put phone battery on Low Power Mode
- Carry a battery charger
- Carry a cord (which I need for charger anyway) and plug (there are places in park to plug in all over)

In previous years, I used a backup battery bank, and it worked well enough, but it was pretty bulky in the pocket, I had to remember to charge it every night, and if everyone needed a recharge during the day, it would run out of power on us.

This past summer, I bought one of the fuel rods while we were at Disney, and absolutely loved it. The value in the fuel rod is in the ability to instantly exchange it for a fully charged replacement at any time in the park. We were able to keep phones charged for a family of 5 with just one fuel rod! As long as they continue to have the kiosks in the parks, this is a great investment.

My iPhone 7+ is fine for a day at Disney. But I have my 10,000 mAh portable charger.

You can get a great portable charger with a high mAh capacity for under $20

Yup.

My iPhone 6 is on it's last legs. It will hold a charge for about 2 hours with zero use.

I carry multiple portable chargers at this point. It's time to get a new phone but not sure if I really want an X

I would suggest buying either a Mophie or Anker external battery. I have both and I usually only need the Mophie. I have an iphone 6, less than a year old.

If you have an iPhone 6, and you haven't had the battery replaced in your iPhone yet, it's also possible that it's not holding nearly as much charge as it did when it was new. I recently got my battery replaced by Apple and it was basically like having a brand new phone all over again.

Yup.
Having the internal battery replaced in your "6" can cost around $65.00 from local shops.
If you do it yourself (check the procedure on YouTube,) the batteries can be bought for about $11.00 on eBay.

(That's substantially less than $700 to $1000 for an "8" or a "10.")

I use the PocketJuice batteries. Living in a walking city where I take public transportation, charging options aren't as widespread as if I had a car, and these get me through busy days on the go/evenings out where I'm using my phone (like concerts or sporting events)/etc.

I actually thought I would need to use more battery power on my WDW trip but ultimately my phone lasted pretty well. The camera is what took up the most juice for me, but I also found I wasn't browsing sites like Twitter and FB as much, so my battery held out. I usually let it get down to the 30s before charging, usually while in line or at a show, and my first battery never even was depleted! My second only came in handy as a fresh one to take when I didn't have time to recharge the first. These really do hold a good amount of charge, recharge quickly and are cheap. And apparently are on clearance at Best Buy right now!

We use battery backups when we travel. We've found two that we really like. I do agree with a previous poster - if you are using a high mah battery plan for re-charging time.

When we travel there are two things we always bring:
1. Multiple-port USB wall charger
  • we love this for hotels because of limited outlets for all our devices. It's also device agnostic, so we can charge our camera, fitbits, iDevices, ereaders, etc.
2. Battery Backup
  • I specifically chose this one due to the best combination of size/capacity & I wanted something with two usb ports. It's a little on the heavy side, but is only a little larger than a deck of cards - which is really nice for travel. It has a decently sized battery and will service all three of our phones all day before it needs to be recharged.

I was tempted to get the Fuel Rod on my last trip but ended up getting a Mophie powerstation plus instead. The Mophie is fantastic and has a built in lightning and microUSB cable, but is unfortunately very overpriced.

I usually bring two spare battery packs with me on a trip - two because I sometimes forget to charge them and it's nice to have a backup battery pack to use if this is the case!

I've had good experiences with EasyAcc and Anker in the past too.

I have an iPhone 6s with the original battery and it won't last a day, let alone at Disney World. We took a mid-day break most days and I was able to charge at the hotel. The two days we didn't get a break, I used my Anker fuel rod (https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerC...277053&sr=1-9&keywords=anker+portable+charger). It worked great - charged my phone and my husband's phone on one charge and it is pretty small and light weight. For the money, it was a good buy and I'd recommend it.

have you checked to see if Apple will replace your 6S battery for free?

I have an Anker powerbank. I forgot what the model is, but it’s like the standard one. Works well. Usually in the park I have to recharge my phone twice cuz I use it so much lol
