Cell battery life?

You can always turn it to airplane mode to save battery life, and just use it to take pics, etc- I had an iphone 4s a few weeks ago on my trip, turned off everything I wasn't using, data, bluetooth, etc.I usually shut off data anyway -The real drain is my camera , so I brought along a power pack case, it is a bigger case that I turned on when my own battery got too low, that way it lasted all day from 9-midnight. It cost about 30.00 on Amazon, and is great for travel and long days. I never even used my regular camera that used to live in my purse.....

I plugged my phone up during lunch upstairs at Columbia Harbor House. I also try to carry a small extra power source.

Anybody tried the solar chargers? Was thinkig on buying one

Only if it has a built in battery and you charge it overnight with a wall outlet. I think you need something close to a foot square of solar panel before you get enough juice to charge your phone just from the sun.

A couple phones with large batties are the Motorola Maxx and Turbo (Verizon). At home we can easily go more than a day with these. At Disney we can get a day easy but it really depends on signal strength and how busy the networks are (wifi or cellular). My wife and I have these and we also have some of the portable batter packs that have been mentioned, just in case. There are also charging ports near the rest rooms near Rapunzel's tower between Fantasyland and Liberty Square. Look in the "tables" that look like stumps! There are plugs and USB ports.

Slightly off-topic, but Disney needs a serious overhaul of their wi-fi network.

They are pushing guests to their app to everything from changing FP+, making or changing dining reservations, getting wait times, buying tickets, etc. and their coverage is HORRIBLE in the parks. Having to be on your phone so much is already going to add to the battery drainage but using cellular data to search will gobble up your battery then if you're trying to use wi-fi but the connection is bad you'll leak even more battery. If their network was more efficient people could get more done and save alot more of their battery.

Are there generally places with outlets to plug in your phone to charge? Either charging stations near benches or at restaurants, or anything else?

There is an area near the Tangled restrooms at MK with charging stations in the "tree stumps" (unless they have removed them in the last year!)

I bought an Anker charger off of Amazon and it was a game changer!! All of our photos on my phone..so it dies fast. It has a USB port..you just stick your charging cord in and plug her in..in your bag, in your pocket (gets warm though) and it works amazing. One full battery pack charge charges my Iphone 4S four full charges from almost dead! I will have an Iphone 6 next time..hoping that the battery life is a bit better on it..but will be bringing my trusty anker charger!

I also have an Anker and love it. I am a group tour guide, so I often hit the parks after an overnight bus trip, on which I have been using my phone for maps and other apps all night. I used to have to find an outlet (and I know where they all are, I swear!) but now with the Anker I don't worry about it!

I have an iPhone 6, and you are correct, the battery life is MUCH better than a 4 or 5. I love it!

Turn off your cellular and only use the in-park wifi.
Turn off location services.

There are outlets all over the place, the goal is to find outlets where you're killing time anyway, like eating a snack. In Adventureland, we stopped to try a Dole Whip. Just to the left of Aloha Isle (or whatever the name of that place is that sells the DWs), there is a recessed, covered area with a few tables set up to eat. There's also an outlet right there! Perfect spot to charge up for 20-30 minutes while the family snacks.

Airplane mode is your friend. My Galaxy S3 would last most of a day and I carry a couple of external batteries to charge it. But that was before having to use MDE and FP+.

I did okay with my iPhone 5s--it generally lasted all day and I think it only died once the whole week. I find, however, that I do not use the phone as much when I'm in the parks as I do when I'm sitting around bored at home. I'm basically just sending and receiving texts, checking e-mail and looking up wait times on the MDE app. All of the battery-intensive stuff (games, maps, GPS) I don't tend to use.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. We were at Disney two times since I had my Samsung S4. I made sure I had a full charge when we left the hotel aroung 8AM and then I turned both the data and the WIFI off. If you turn the data off, you can still make and receive phone calls and can text, you just can't go on apps or go on the internet. If I wanted to upload a picture or video to Instagram or check the MDE app, I just turned the wifi on and then turned it off again after I was done. It really saves your battery this way because your phone isn't constantly searching for a signal.

I just went 7 am to 1 pm with a Verizon iphone 5s and still had 4% battery life left when we got back. I checked wait times frequently throughout the day plus taking some pictures

I also bought an Anker, it's a 2nd Gen Astro Mini 3200mAh lipstick portable battery charger from Amazon. Got it for Christmas thinking ahead to our Disney trip this year. I love it. It gives me two full charges to my iPhone 5S. It's small and light to pack in purse or pocket.

I save battery by using airplane mode and turning off wifi when I don't need it. I also close all apps running in the background. Adjusting your brightness setting can make a big difference too.

I had a couple of external batteries with me when I went with my iPhone 5. It was pretty much a necessity. Otherwise my battery would be dead before lunch.
Here's a tip. Turn off your mobile data. The advantage is 2 fold. Your battery will last much longer, and you will be less likely to be playing with your phone instead of enjoying your limited time in Disney World.

thanks everyone! Im going to pick up an extra battery and the anker for both our phones before the trip.

I went from an IPhone 5 to a 6+ . The battery life is great ! All I can say is wow what a difference! Larger phone = larger battery = more mah = happy!
