My wife and daughter have celiac disease and have to eat gluten free. We are going to DW (WL) on August 15th. When I made our dining ressies I specified gluten free on the dining reservation form. Is there anything else I could do before we go to make the gluten free dining experience better for my wife and daughter? Is there someone I should contact ahead of time? Thank you very much.

Definitely contact WDW special diets (they have an email listed on the WDW website), and they will send you a list with "some" of the items that are available for GF diets. It is by no means comprehensive, but it is very handy for the CS restaurants, and I use it as a reference (i.e. take it with me in my purse) every time I go. The TS restaurants are really great at WDW and can make a lot of special or modified items very easily. We just stayed at the WL and I was impressed with Roaring Forks and some of the food offerings there. I also liked Artist Point a lot and WCC was pretty good too! I am also casein free too, since I have a milk allergy but I am always well fed and taken care. The food is great and most of the chefs are very friendly and accommodating. Special Diets also has a form that you send back to them (to be sent to the restaurants ressies) for any TS resseis. :thumbsup2

There are lots of GF folks here on the disAbilities board, so hopefully we can answer all of your questions.

There are also some sticky links that the mods have put together that are just great resources! I recommend reading those too :)

Things may have changed, but I just wanted to let you know about what we have learned in the past. The TS places are great and should have your info and everything ready before you get there ( assuming that you have a ressie). As for the CS places, try to get there before or after main meal times and don;t wait until you are starving. When you get to the counter tell them about the special needs and every time we have had to wait on a manager to come out. We where told this was for safety and this is why I tell you not to go during crowded times. Because the GF is for an allergy they will try there best to get every thing right but if something seems wrong it never hurst to ask them to double check it.

My dd is celiac and I can say that Disney is by far theeasiest experience we have ever had in getting gluten free food. We never heard the words "sorry we cant accomadate you !"

As other have said TS are fab we saw a chef everytime who talked to DD and worked out what she would like! Even made her special choc muffins at CRT. I would however mention it to your server everytime you sit down as sometimes it takes a while to get to see the chef and it never hurts to remind them you need this at the start.
GF mickey waffles are to die for !!

Honestly relax because I can tell you it will be the easiest dining experience you have ever had.
Have fun x x x
