Celebrity encounters??

I had heard the thing about the plaid vest people escorting famous people, so......... one day we were at MGM and I saw one and told my husband, "If you see a castmember wearing a plaid vest you should look because that means there is a famous person around. :cool1: " He says to me, (with a very confused look on his face :confused3 ) "Why would a famous person want to come to Disney World and wear a plaid vest?"

I swear, sometimes I don't know how he finds his way home at night! :rotfl2:

We met 'Pudge' Rodreguez at Disney Quest, he was sitting in front of me learning to draw Donald Duck, with his family. I got a photo of my hubby (big baseball fan) standing next to 'Pudge'.
:donald: :donald: :donald: :donald:

So, I just got back from a disney Cruise, which was amazing, and I was sitting in the hot tub and this guy gets in and starts singing to himself.. I thought it was funny. But after a while I started thinkg to myself why he looked so familiar. After about 10 minutes I realized it was Andrea Bocelli! In a hot tub! on a disney cruise! haha.. I called my buddy over at UMVD and he said that he was taking some time before hitting the road to promote his new album comming out the 31st. Anyways.. thats my celebrity story.. Has anybody had a celebrity experience?

If he got in the hot tub on his own that's amazing, only because he's BLIND!!! He doesn't enter or leave the stage without assistance. We saw him in concert and he doesn't get around a large open stage without help. We don't doubt you, just that the way you posted it makes it seem as if he's gotten very independent.

By the way, in Disneyworld we met Gary Sinise and John Tesh after the two different Candlelight Processional events. A few pro football players at the ESPN club and Roy disney in the Studios.

Well in Chicago, I've seen tons of people...Sara Jessica, Jennifer, Vince Vaughn, it seems someone's always around there.

In Disney though, one night we dined next to "Bernard" from the Santa Clause Movie. Sorry I don't know his real name. And we also saw Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luther) from Smallville. The only way I recognized him was by his bald head, which was very bald at the time. Last time my sister went, she saw Regis and Kelly in the lobby of her hotel. It seems like you can always spot someone famous if you keep an eye out. :thumbsup2

MMMMMMMMM Vince Vaughn! Delicious!

I saw Dave Wannestedt (old coach of the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins) coming out of the Indiana Jones stunt show. You can't miss that mustache anywhere.

This really probably doesn't count much but I was on the Disney Cruise with the According to Jim staff when they filmed the show. No one knew ahead of time about the filming. Without trying we were bumping into all the stars, all the time! The two girls were everywhere, in the elevator with us several times and also the sister on the show, seemed she was always on an elevator. Jim himself was running most days and would jog by us on deck 4. You could also watch all the filming. My husband and parents were with Jim a night they did karoke, guess he was real down to earth. I was in the room sleeping with my son!

Besides that never really encountered a star at disney, minus if they were filming the christmas parade.

And I LOVE Dennis Quaid! I never even knew how much I loved him until my husband pointed out that my two favorite movies (The Parent Trap and The Rookie) he was the star in. Then I really started looking at him, he is just AWESOME!

Jessica

Oh thanks for sharing I loved that episode.....

I'm so bad with names. But years ago I saw the boy who played the part of Cory in Boy meets world in the preshow for Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom. I recognized him right away. I got all excited. He put his finger to his mouth. And I shook me head. He mouthed, thank you. My husband and son saw him too. Then there was the time my husband took ds, dneice, dnephew, a friend, and friend's son to Disney Quest for a few hours. I called them to see how crowded it was there. Dh stepped into a quieter place. Then he said he was going to have to call me back because some big body guards and a important kid just sat next to him. He was nosy and wanted to find out who he was. So he hung up with me and started to talk to them. Turns out the kid was Lil' Romeo. They asked if they could take a pic of him with the camera phone and he said sure. Unfortunately, that started something. He was mobbed after that.

At WDW at the Contemporary to be exact I met Malcom Jamal Warner in the elevator and Charlene Tilton at the "Top of the World"

I have met others but in other places..my fav Hugh Jackman and Chrissie Hynes from the Pretenders!

Last May, we met Vincent D'Onofrio from Law and Order Criminal Intent with his teenage daughter and 4 year old son (who was sleeping on his shoulder), and a plaid vested CM on the Pangani Forest Exploration trail at AK.

Otherwise, on a trip to Disneyland in california in Dec 2002, we got front row tickets to a Clippers/Blazers game and ended up sitting surrounded by Billy Crystal, Penny Marshall, and had James Earl Jones right behind us. Very cool.

I've met Billy Joel (used to live on Long Island)... Wayne Newton, Patrick Swayze,(actually had lunch with him, his wife and horse trainer at Scottsdale Arabian horse show, George Burns, Pat Benetar, Joan Jett (had conversations with them all)... then "saw" Johhny Carson (airport) Chuck Conner's (Rifleman) airport, Donny Osmond (at a restaurant in Phoenix), Wynonna Judd (restaurant in Scottsdale)...

My sister (ibouncetoo) acutally got a HUG from Dennis Quaid, not to mention many many star encounters (she works for the TV station here in Phoenix...but I'll let her tell her own stories!

Never saw anyone at Disney, but last trip to DisneyLand at the Grand Californian (2002?) - we were told we just missed Tom Cruise (pre Katie...):rolleyes1

I met Mickey Mouse at WDW several times, lol! I can't believe you guys haven't met him yet!!! :lmao: :woohoo:

Seriously, kudos on meeting celebs at the World, that's cool, I'll definately keep an eye out for the plaid vest in the future!!!

oh my gosh keep them coming I love reading them.

Hi - this is my first post (how exciting!)

I have a few celebrity sightings (for myself and others):

On Christmas Eve 2001, my brother, sister, and I saw John Stamos and Rebecca Romijn outside Pooh. Two days later, we saw them again outside GMR (kinda looked like we were stalking, but we never said a word to them...I would have felt bad interrupting their vacation).

My brother was a CP in 1999 and loaded Doug Flutie onto Skyway (former Buffalo Bills QB, now a backup for Patriots - everyone should know Doug Flutie!)

My best friend from high school rode the monorail with Sigourney Weaver.

This past December, my sister and I were at DL and were annoyed that we couldn't go in the left walkway under the railroad, seemed there was something going on. Oh, just the USC football team. We saw the whole thing later that night on ESPN and felt guilty for being so annoyed! During the day, we saw all the players signing autographs and posing for pictures with kids. I thought that was great considering the Rose Bowl was in a couple days.

Every time I see a Guest Relations Cast Member in that spiffy plaid vest, I look closely. Everyone goes to WDW or DL!

My boyfriend and I just returned from our trip. At Disney Studios I saw a VIP guide with this woman and her kids and was trying to place her because she was all dolled up and just carried herself like she was "somebody". Her husband came up to her and I noticed he looked kind of scuzzy while she was all prettied up. We were waiting in line for Lights, Motors, Action and after we sat down I mentioned the group to my boyfriend and told him I wondered who she was.

After the show we followed the crowd out and walking down the street just ahead of us was that group. I was almost shoulder to shoulder with the scuzzy looking guy so I leaned over to my boyfriend and whispered to him to see if he recognized the woman. He looked over and said, "That's Curt Schilling!". I was like, "Who's Curt Schilling?" World Series Red Sox pitcher I guess. My boyfriend pointed out the big scar on his ankle which meant nothing to me but I have since read about it on the internet. Since we were walking right next to each other and Curt wears his World Series ring on his right hand, he could have brushed me with the ring. Wow, exciting. And totally funny because I assumed the woman was the famous one.

Hi,
I was on the Magic's cruise through the Panama Canal this summer. Joey Fatone, from In Sync was on the ship most of the cruise. Saw him playing bingo, at the pool, the art auction. My niece got his autograph, he seems like a nice guy. But, I got on an elevator and who was there? Roy Disney ! I saw him a few other times and started a conversation. He is a real regular guy. Just wears t shirts and shorts like everybody else. Can' wait till my next cruise. Isn't it the best !

Irene

Joey must really like Disney. We met him in 2000, coming out of a shop. Very nice to my DD who was then 9, she was very shy then, and I asked if she wanted to take a pic with him, He stopped and waited for her to answer me. When she shyly shook her head no, he posed anyway for her to "have later" then he rubbed her head, high fived my son and left. Not snobby at all.

A friend of mine met Robin Williams once and she said she went "OMG, it's Robin Williams." he asked her what her name was and she told him, then he ran to the end of the hallway (some hotel) then came running back all goofy saying "OMG, It's Jennifer!!" then gave her a big hug. She said he was sooo nice and soooo "normal".

Quick note about Dennis Quaid. Met him at the Hospital I used to work at. Shook his hand and talked to him. He was so nice and sweet as could be. Was there to help pay for a child who came from central america and needed cardiac surgery. I will always watch his movies because he donates so much with out fuss or publicity. A real hero.

I wasn't jealous of any of these posts until I read those magical words: Hugh Jackman! (And my wonderful husband knows of my complete and utter infatuation, so all is well. :) )

The story about Robin Williams running down the hall was hilarious! I can picture him doing that. :rotfl:

And the Pudge Rodriguez and Jim Leyland meets are pretty cool to this Tigers fan!!! :worship:

I've met Brian Setzer - not a three hour conversation, or anything, but I have met him. And my husband met Matthew McConaughey. DH's a police officer, and he was helping to protect him while he was in town doing publicity for Sahara. :cool2:
