Celebrity chef Keith Floyd has died

R.I.P

Wow has he? How old was he?

:(

I did used to like his cookery programs in the 80's.

Claire ;)

Very sad, I enjoyed his shows, he was obviously one of the trendsetters for the modern globetrotting TV chefs of today, may he rest in peace.

However, his death is not a surprise, he almost died from drink related illness last year. We sat and watched a documentary about him just last night, a very interesting insight into how he was regarded by his friends and family, as well as the showing the "full on" personality of the man.

Very sad, used to love his shows :sad1:

A sad state of affairs for someone who was one of the real pioneers of cookery shows on tv, took it away from it's rather straitlaced structure to a real, off the cuff approach that has been taken on by Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, etc, etc.

I read a fascinating interview a while back whereby he lamented not being able to seperate himself from the public perception of him, and that he found himself feeling like he needed to live up to the publics expectations, something which was fairly apparent over the last couple of years, with his various 'shenanigans'. A fiery character indeed, but a personality that people found interesting in this time of media produced 'reality' personalities.

I loved his cooking series and watched them religiously, the tours round Italy, Spain and America stand out in my mind.

An extremely talented, passionate and totally entertaining individual, and a sad loss.
