Celebrities! Have you ever met, bumped into, to one?

A few years ago, DW and I took a trip to the GF RPC.........

Now, I’ve always liked John Goodman, but I never figured he would be so mobbed by autograph seekers. We saw him many times the first couple days of our stay, and he was constantly being approached by somebody. I felt sorry for him, so even if he sat quite close to us in the lounge, we wouldn’t bother him.......

On our third or fourth day there, DW and I happened to being waiting on the same elevator as him when someone approached from behind and said, “Excuse me, can I have your autograph.” My wife didn’t miss a beat; she turned around and said, “Sure. It’s so nice that you watch the show.” The autograph seeker was just befuddled, but handed my wife his autograph book and she signed “Thanks for watching,,, and signed her name.” By that time the elevator had arrived, so we were all jumping inside. Once inside the elevator, John Goodman was just staring at my wife. She turned to him and said, “Nope, I’m nobody.” He just died laughing. We must have made quite an impression because the next morning, he introduced his wife and daughter to us. From what we saw of him that week, he is as nice in person as he appears in the movies.
If your wife can think that fast on her feet.....she is going to be an awesome, awesome mother......:teeth:

When I was in high school, Sylvester Stallone and the cast of Rocky, whichever one Apollo Creed was in, were doing a promo in Center City Philadelphia. While waiting for him to come around near his limo I was being pushed and I shoved back only to find I was shoving Sylvester Stallone in the arm.

At my high school /college job, I waited on several "celebrities"" but was always too shy to ask for an autograph. I waited on lots of Redskins, including Art Monk (holding his daughter's doll baby), Ollie North (with his bodyguards? during Iran/Contra), Sam Donaldson and lots of local tv news people. All were very nice. Also sat right behind Tim Russert at a Caps hockey game once, but didn't talk to him. I was always torn about asking for autographs, etc. I wanted them to know I recognized them and wasn't ignorant, but I felt guilty bothering them. The only one I ever did get an autograph from was Art Monk. What a class act!

DH gets to meet a lot more people important people (briefly!!) in his job including Geo. H. Bush, Bill Clinton, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and the Red Wings Hockey team when they beat the Caps in the Stanley Cup finals.

Our funniest "celebrity" encounter goes to my BIL. He was in a restroom at a golf course when Pres. Clinton walked in. Clinton started talking to him and he got so nervous he couldn't finish what he'd started.;)

Most people will not know mine, but here goes anyway.

Robert Reynolds was bass player for The Mavericks, but best known as Trisha Yearwood's husband. (The one she left for Garth!) Anyway we were waiting outside for the venue to open for a concert and this guy comes walking right by me. My husband says that's Robert. I'm like no way, we just saw him a few weeks ago and he didn't have a beard. This guy had a full beard. Well I looked again and it WAS Robert. So I was all nervous and shaking, but I sort of yelled his name. Then he turned around and said hi. I asked if he would mind if I took a picture of him. He said sure and asked if I wanted to be in it with him. SURE! So now I have a nice picture of me and Robert!!!! Every time after that when I saw him he always remembered me. He has to be the sweetest man I have ever met. My husband keeps telling me that he would always kiss me on the cheek but I honestly don't remember that part. Guess I was too excited.

The other is that I used to work at Franklin Graham's org, so I saw him in the office occasionally. Now if I can only meet Billy Graham some day! I'll have to do my best not to make a fool of myself.

Oh, last week I met Chip Ingram. Last month I met Joni Eareckson Tada. They were both SO nice. I was shocked at how nice and personable they were. Chip was a hoot. He has a GREAT sense of humor.

Hello everyone!! Long time lurker here!!
Being from Hollywood North I have bumped into a lot of celebrities
I danced beside Johnny Depp many times. Brian Bloom and Richard Greco sang Happy Birthday to me. My friend and I also stalked Tom Selleck at his hotel. I also have Rod Stewart and Billy Joel's autographs!!

I miss those good old days!!

I have been lucky enough to meet two celebrities. I have met:

Naomi Judd- I lived in the Birmingham,AL area years ago when her first book came out. She came to the local bookstore and I stood in line for like 2 hours and had the pleasure of meeting her. That was an awesome experience.

Susan Seaforth-Hayes- She is an actress on Days of Our Lives. I had the privilege of meeting her during a pre-rehearsal for a musical she was starring in at a local theather. I had the pleasure of also going age after the performance and speaking with her and some of the other stars of the musical. I love musicals and this was the best overall experience I've ever had.

I have a funny Billy Joel, Moving Out story...
We saw this in Chicago before it even went to New York and it was fabulous btw... a must see imho, anyway...While we were waiting for the show to beging you hear a bunch of people yelling and clapping and carrying on.....not "proper" theater behavior. Well I turn around and guess who is sitting RIGHT behind me.....Billy Joel. We ll I have NO idea who is sitting there (he looked a lot differant as I remembered him looking....he had a lot more hair from what I remeber....) and ask DH what is all this commotion about. He tells me Billy Joel is sitting right behind me. OK, so this is really cool now!! So after the show I turn around and say thank you to Billy Joel for all of the wonderful music to make the show possible and he asks me.........."How did you get better seats than me?" I busted out laughing. He seems like a very cool guy and really enjoyed the show. My only regret is not getting his autograph on my stage bill..... But I figured he should have a life without having to give autographs at a theater production. Now I am going to HAVE to go see it again because I heard they made some changes between Chicago and Broadway. I love the theater!!! Next show...Mamma Mia for the third time at the end of this month!!! Can't wait!!!!!

Another David Hasselhoff sighting!
I work as a nanny and I used to travel with the family I work for. We were staying atthe La Quinta Resort in Palm Desert , CA. I had an hour or so off and went to use the resorts gym. In walked David HAsselhoff. The 2 of us were the only people in there so we chatted while we worked out. He was very nice. The funniest part was by the time he finished working out there were about 10 women staring in thru the wndows!
Also
Eminem- I used to run into him, when we were younger, at parties he would rap at.
Kid Rock- He went to high school with a good friend of mine and used to D.J at local parties.
Gladys Knight
I can't remember his last name---the fitness guy from Body by Jake.
Chris Webber- basketball player
M.C. hammer- met at a party after a concert
Cliff Robinson Basketball PLayer on 2 occasions at clubs in Portland and Las Vegas

Boy!! I used to have a lot of fun when I was younger!!

My uncle who lives in Michigan did all the carpet for the studio of the Insane Clowne Posse. They are a rap/rock group from Detroit. He said it was all purple shag carpet.

While at the ESPN Club at Boardwalk, I met Sal Palintonio (sp?) a reporter for ESPN. He was reporting on the Tampa Bay Buccaners I walked by and I thought I recognized him from SportsCenter. I went over and started talking to him and ended up talking for like 10 minutes about the whole Kobe Bryant case and different training camps. He said he hasn't been home for a fall weekend in 14 years!!

I met Shaq when he was at LSU (we lived in Baton Rouge) because they would give us pointers at the summer camp I went to.

Saw Christina Aguilara in New York City.

When I was taking my driving test we went through a REALLY nice neighborhood in Plano (where several movie stars and a bunch of Dallas Cowboys live) and I saw Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.

I used to live about 10 houses down from Michael Irvin (Dallas Cowboys) when I lived in Carrollton.

I've met two of my General Hospital obsessions: Antonio Sabato Jr and Tyler Christopher-

I've met:
two former Broncos-Simon Fletcher and Rulon Jones (they were the only two signing autographs on a rainy training camp day-I did have several of the others walk by me on the way into the building they were staying in, though....the funny thing is that I had a really bad opinion of Rulon Jones and actually turned to my mom and said "It would have to be him that's going to sign my book." That was before I met him....afterwards, I thought he was really nice.)
Tommy Moe-U.S. gold medal winner in downhill skiing
Steve Young
Boomer Esiason-who I literally ran into
and most recently Kenny Chesney (who I actually spent about 15-20 minutes with.)

Jimmy Carter -- in his first year as President when he went to visit his son for Easter. His son lived in my mother's hometown in GA, we were living in Savannah at the time and had gone to visit my uncle for Easter. At the time there were maybe 6,000 people in the whole town and seemed like everyone turned out to greet Marine One at the airport.

Newt Gingrich -- he came to speak before a class at my college (pre-SOTH days) and I shook his hand as he was on his way in.

I've also been to several sci-fi conventions and have seen several celebs at those. Most of the cast of Highlander, several actors from Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica, and quite a few comic book writers and artists. Jack Kirby (who co-created the Hulk, the X-Men, Captain America, among others) was at one but wasn't doing autographs, they said. After he died one other writer who knew him very well talked about how he loved meeting his fans and signing autographs. The man had a huge impact on the medium and I do regret not trying at least to get something autographed.

My mother and some other relatives were visiting DC a few years ago, and someone offered to take their picture as they were in front of one of the federal buildings downtown. My mother thought he looked familiar and asked him who he was. Turned out to be Lloyd Bentsen, former US Senator, VPOTUS nominee, and Clinton cabinet member (I think this was after he had finally retired, though).

It's fun seeing celebrities but they are just human beings like us.

{QUOTE}People are people. They just sometimes appear "different" because other people treat them "different". They have all the same problems as you and I.[/QUOTE]

They are? LOL!!!
I'm not like a crazy obsessive stalker or anything or think they are anything other than people. I just thought it was a fun topic.:D

I have met a dozen or so celebreties in my associations with showing dogs.

One that some here may not remember is a friend of mine. She is Diana Muldour. At least I HOPE that is how her name is spelled. I know her as Diane Dozier. She followed Ronald Reagan as president of the screen actors quild, and was in LA Law (she fell down the elevator shaft) and Star Trek (she was the doctor). A bunch of other things too, that I can't remember right now.

I also have met Bill Cosby while showing dogs. He is quite involved with Lakeland Terriers, and I met him at Westminster the year his dog was favored to win. Artie Shaw, and a lot of the Laugh-In crew. A lot of celebs frequent dog shows and end up being trophy presenters etc.

Hmmm, I started thinking about and realized that running into celebs is almost a hazard of living in So. CA. LOL!!
Random Sightings:
Johnny Depp, Michael Jackson (at DL), Jamie Lee Curtis with Adam Ant (oh the 80's!), Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson, Melina Kanekaredes (sp?), All the actors at DCA for Soap days (wasn't there for that purpose so, random to me!), Ozzy Osbourne, Rosanna Arquette, Penny Marshall, One of the Baldwins, Nelly (hip hop guy), Dick Van Patten almost ran over me at WB studios when I was 12(the same day, also saw most of the cast of The Waltons & Eight is Enough plus Angie Dickenson)

bumped into/met:
Michael Damien (Soap guy/singer), Tara Reid, Telly Savalas, Molly Ringwald, Leeza Gibbons, Brendan Fraser, The casts of the L.A. & San Francisco "Real World", C. Thomas Howell, Willie Aames (8 is Enough), Howard Jones (80's musical genius~ met him twice in the last few years!~brilliant!), Florence Griffith Joyner (Flo Jo), Gary Collins & Mary Ann Mobley (old timers), Dick Van Patten again,,,last year at a benefit.

Yikes! There are heaps more, but I'm too sleepy to think.
I'm definitely with whoever made the "regular people" comment. I do find it interesting to see how different they look in person though. Oh, and the camera adds more than 10 pounds!!! You wouldn't believe how teeny some of these people are!!! Tara Reid is almost non-existent!
:earseek:

Steven Tyler (from Aerosmith) was with his wife behind me in the checkout line at a local department store a few years back. We didn't ask for an autograph but some kids that recognized him came and asked for autographs. He has a home a few towns from where I live.
